  1. Just wanted to update this for anyone out there that might experience it. Although the clutch master and slave were working, they weren’t working fully. Evidently they had been only working partially for a long time. The slave couldn’t retract fully and let the release bearing separate from the release levers. When I removed the slave, the fork just stayed where it had been. I now find that it should be able to work properly with new master and slave. I learn something new every day. Hope this helps someone someday.
  2. Also, the rep told me that the bolts on the release levers are set to the 30,000th and should not be adjusted, but with no access in the bell housing, they can’t be adjusted anyway. I have found a Valeo kit like the one that was in it, but without the ability to adjust release bearing spacing, I’m stumped on whether to buy it. Any insights are welcomed. Thank you.
  3. I have a 1989 Mid-Liner MS200P. 5.5L with Spicer CM 5552-A -5 speed. Excellent truck with only 126K original miles. When I got the truck in 2019, it was almost completely original, down to the tires. There was a squealing noise from the clutch, and it gradually became harder to shift. I ordered the IAT 107350-4-G-IAT clutch kit and installed it last week. Upon pulling the transmission, I found what I had suspected was the cause of the squealing and difficult shifting. The release bearing had seized up and was eating into the release levers on the apparently original Valeo kit. I realize that the release bearing should not have been in full time contact with the levers, and I had tried to adjust the clutch pedal according to the Mack specs as of 1997 manual printing. It made no difference. As I said, I have now installed the IAT kit and no matter what, the release bearing is riding the release levers full time, causing slipping and difficulty shifting. I talked with a rep at IAT and he says this is the only kit they sell for this application, that he’s never seen this, and that it will never work. Because there is no access panel on the bell housing, I went through the release fork hole with an inspection camera and sure enough, the release bearing is riding the levers. Removing the slave cylinder to take all pressure off the fork makes no difference, so pedal setting is not at fault. The rep at IAT was very knowledgeable and helpful, but he said there is nothing that can be done. I have convinced Amazon to take the kit back and refund my money, but I wanted to put this here and see if anyone had seen this before. If the only adjustment is for the pedal to master cylinder relationship, and removing the slave cylinder makes no change, how can the release bearing spacing be adjusted?
  4. For anyone interested, I found one in England and it’s on the way. Thanks again to panelizer for providing the part number. Just a few more relatively minor parts, and it’ll be ready for work again.
  5. I’ll probably buy a few, if they are reasonable. That is a good idea. I haven’t took French since the 3rd grade. I’m just a bit rusty.
  6. So far, I’ve got a bite in Slovakia. Waiting to hear from France. Looks like it’s less than $50. Just in case anyone is interested. Thanks again for the part number Panelizer. Just took patience.
  7. Awesome. The seller on eBay that has the catalog for sale offered it to me for $299.99 today. Is it me, or is that a bit excessive for a parts catalog? So far, the numbers that Panelizer provided haven’t produced much. I know these parts aren’t exactly on the shelves at Autozone, but I was hoping to shake something loose. Patience. I’ve got time. I’ve emailed a couple places in Europe. I’m a “glass half full” kind of guy, so I’ll fill my glass eventually. Thanks again for the help.
  8. It helps so very much. Thanks don’t begin to say it, but thank you so much.
  9. Just did some searching and numbers crossing and found the hand brake valve for $49.64 with free shipping. One way or another, I’ll find that coupling and I won’t be involving the Mack stealership.
  10. Ok. Thanks. The dealer quoted me just shy of $700 for the foot valve. Got one online for $75. Quoted me just shy of $300 for unloader valve. Got it for $36 online. Both new and functioning perfectly. The foot valve is even Wabco.
  11. Yes. There is a parts catalog on eBay for a cool $399.99. If I knew what the part were called, I’d be in business.
  12. I didn’t call a Mack dealer and won’t be. I am hoping this forum can help me. I’ve never had a good experience at any dealership. Hoping someone might have the parts manual.
  13. I have a 1989 Mid-liner MS200. The coupling in front of the Knorr-Dahl air compressor has become very noisy until the unloader valve opens. This is my first truck with air brakes and I’m not familiar with what this coupling is called. I’d like to replace it and am hoping someone can tell me what it’s called, and maybe a part number. I got the truck last year. All of the brake valves were leaking. I’ve replaced the unloader valve and the foot valve. I’m having trouble finding the parking brake valve and want to replace the noisy compressor drive shaft coupling. Other than the worn out brake valves, the truck is completely solid. Former Penske truck. 125,000 well maintained miles. Not a single leak or wet spot on the 5.5L engine. I believe the truck was parked when the unloader valve gave up and they started looking for parts. I have no intention of ever stepping foot in a Mack dealership. So far, I’ve crossed numbers and found parts on the internet for very reasonable prices. Thanks for any help. I look forward to learning a lot here. Of course, the pictures turned sideways.
