  1. The ones that were used by the freight companies were pretty much used up I understand.

    I took some pictures of the C today when I was at the shop. They are not the best and it is alittle covered up with stuff that has been moved around since the roof has fallen in on us.

    I also showed the old wedge brakes and the new ones still not completed. I also showed the way i have the rear of it redone.

  2. Look what I found today. They were listed on craigslist. He said that they had been listed there for three months. Wonder how they were still there.

    I have four, two were the normal hub caps that I have seen before but I am not sure about these two.

    what did they come on and how did the mount? Do they just snap into the center of the wheel on the bud wheels?

  3. I don't remember how many of them were built. Not a lot I think only about 1100 of the 607's that I have. It has the 673 with a duplex on the reverse camel back springs on the rear.

    I have the build sheet some where.

    I have only seen about 8 or 9 of them and never seen one that was driven much at all. It seams like the people that have the are collecting and hauling them around.

  4. I have taken the 20 ft bed off of it and replaced it with a fifth wheel.

    It was a tractor at first and has been stretched by the original owner.

    It was used at a cement plant to haul the powdered cement, when the cement company was sold he kept the truck and used it around the farm and to haul feed for a small feed mill that they had on the farm just out side of Dallas. It going to be cut up and sold for scrap when a friend of mine who was going to cut it up told me about it.

    I don't remember the exact millage but if I remember it right it is about 70,000 I think, and all original. It still has the riveted together 10:00 20 wheels on it.

    The wedge brakes on it worked pretty good when I drove it home but when you set the parking brake it would free wheel and roll away. I could not get the parking brake part of the wedge brakes to work, and could not find a sorce for parts for the old style so I have been trying to convert it to S-cam brakes.

    I will try to get fresh pictures of it in the next few days, but it is in a building where the roof fell in under 18 inches of snow about three years ago. The owner did not have insurence and we have not had the money to rebuild it.

  5. Any body own or have any experience with a C model Mack?

    I have one bought it while back but have not gotten too much done on it. I am working on changing the wedge brakes out for S-cam brakes.

    Though I might find some one else to talk a few things over with. I know where there is another one about 200 miles from me but the Dad had the truck and he has passed and the son is still running the business and does not know much about it. He is not using it but not talking about letting it go either. It has a newer engine it in but he does not know every thing about that either. The job was not completed when the Dad passed away. Still setting where it was with the front clip still off.

    I took picture of it a while back but I have put them all up and not sure where to find them now.

  6. I might be able to drive it up there if i can get done what I want to.

    I just wonder what the DOT would have to say if they were to pull me over.

    I have been very lucky doing every thing I did in 2010 and the first of last year and not haveing any more problems than i did.

    I am supost to have the 3 weeks off in june want to go to allentown for thier show but not sure what i will be able to fo yet. Still trying to get some of the back pay that i am due. Got some of it and moma needed and new set of wheels so we got her a 06 town & country with 75,00 miles on it totally loaded. She is happy now to get the other things that need to be done taken care of.

  7. Rob I am not sure if that truck is still avaible, I can check.

    I might know where there is another cab that my cusin was ddealing with he has a sleeper cab that he is talking about switching out with a regular cab on a B.

    I jus read your post about the Pete frame. There are two pete parts skeletons setting behind the shop that have been gov deals and the engines are gone and a lot of otherr parts of the trucks have been used for other trucks but the frames are still there.

  8. I have a front axle from a H model Mack not sure of the year it has Dayton wheels and had a two stick trany. It was a road truck with a sleeper and it has brakes on both hubs. The truck was about gone Rob has seen it full of bullett holes, glass is all gone and rusted and in rough condition. I had talked to the people about it and nobody knew any thing about it. Then one day I was on the way home and I noticed a step deck going towards the scrap yard with a H model cab laying on it's side on it. I followed the man and was able to buy the front axle for $50.00. I just hope I can use it.

    I also have a 1964 B61 that only has one brake drum ass and every thing on one side and the other side is just a bare axle with hub.

    I also have a 1965 C model that has no brakes on the front axle. I can not get to my books that I have for reference most of that stuff got put in storage about 6 years back when I got married the last time.

    Does any body have any idea if the H model axle would inter change with the B or C models?

  9. No I can't say I ever knew. I just found some axles that the man had that had the same hole pattern on the axle end and went from there.

    If I am not mistaken you can find S cam shafts that are different lenghts for diferent axle ends if you have problems with clearnce of any thing.

  10. I was able to find a person that had several trucks that he had bought for parts and he let me have the spiders cheap when I started taking the Wedge breakes off the C model I have. I know that it a problem trying to get the canesters clear from the drums etc I had to rotate the spiders to get them where they would work. I am not completely happy with where they would work but I am getting them all put back together any way. I need to get it done I have to move the truck asap the building is up for sale and the roof has fallen in due to heavy snow a few years back. I had to rebuild every thing that I got from him but I was able to get the old parts so I would know what I needed. You can get most of the parts new still if you know the numbers you need. That is once you get the right spiders.

    The Post Office is in the process of cutting as many of it's employees as they can back to 30 or 36 hour a week and expecting us to be thankfull for getting to work 6 days a week.

    I have been back a year now and wish I were still out on the road like I was last time I visited with you.

  12. I think most here know I got a C model almost two years back now. I have been working on replaceing the wedge brakes with s cam brakes and I think I have worked it all out. I have one axle about done and a parts list for the other one.

    I have been trying to do a few other thngs while saving the money for parts and I noticed that the hole in the fire wall where the steering colum goes thru has been cut out at the bottom to allow clearance for the steering colum. And the clutch is draging on the cross braces for the front of the cab. Has any body had any experince with what might be causing this to happen? I have lookied and i can't tell if the back of the cab had fallen down or not. I have not got a nother truck around to look at and the parts are unknown to the Mack house.

    I was not too worried about it untill I noticed it was the cause of the clutch not wanting to com back up when driving it. I would like any ideas of what might be the cause of this and a fix. Don't want to have problems with the clutch not coming back up when trying to drive it.

    Any body out there have a C model or had one in the past that I can call and conferr with. Still trying to learn more about the old besat and get it back on the raod again.

  13. does any body know how many of the Mack Jr's 1 1/2 ton and bigger were bilt?

    I understand they were made by REO but I have found very little info on them. Number of them bilt, any thing like this. I have only found the sizes that were made up to about 3 ton.

    I have seen some of the smaller ones at some shows but I can't remember seeing any of the bigger ones any where. I figure if there were a lot of them I would have seen one of them at one of the ATHS shows. There might have been one there that I missed I am not sure.

    I had a request from a freind that is looking for some doors for one and he was asking about this. Will the door of any other cabs fit these cabs?
