  1. The Alumin frame is not the only difference in the cabs. The newer one that does not have the alum frame does not have a center brace in between the glasses only a piece of rubber. I Have looked around I have not found any body that offers the rubber for the newer cabs. Bob Gil
  2. I have been working on changing my C model from wedges to S cams and i have been assuming that 7 inch shoes have been the standard but i have just been reading in one of the books that I have here and it seams like there were some 5 inch 16.5 drums and shoes too. Is there any body out there that knows any more about this? Any help would be nice. Bob Gil
  3. Thanks for your coments. I think it will be well worth my time to contact them and see what they can send me. I will ask about the brake set up on the front axle while i am at it. I do remember the counterperson saying some thing about the truck being built Oct 10 1963, and wondering why I was calling it a 1965. I can only assume that it was built in 63 but not sold untill 65. I understand that was comon back then. It makes me wonder did they start numbering them with 1000 and mine (1036) is just the 36th one built. If so it sure set around before it was sold, and has best that I can tell all it's life to only have 197,000 miles on it. Bob Gil If it an't a Mack could it really be a truck???
  4. I was wondering what to expect when you wirte to Mack for information on one of these old Macks. I know that many here have and have gotten some thing back in return. I was wondering what you might have gotten. I went to the local Mack dealer Friday and they gave me a Chassic Record and I was wondering if that is the same as I would get from the muesum? I was a little exicted untill I opened the envlope and found 4 zerox pages of what might have been from the old slide view machines. But they are out of focus to where you can not make out much of any thing on them. Other than at the top I can make out that two of them are of the same page. And a few little items that the counter amn and my self think we might have been able to make out. He did go and look a number that we though was there and it looks like the truck had 4.50 rears when it was new. But I was unable to tell if it was ordered with steering brakes or not. I was told this might help me if I were to get in a bind at a scale house. But I am not too sure what I have will do any thing if they can not read it. I was wondering if this was the same thing others have recived, or if I would get some thing differrent if I were to write to the Mack Musuem. Any help would be helpfull. 5. I am to the point that I am getting ready to find a seat for the C Model that I am working with. Does any body have any recamondaions? I have a old Bostrom 750 that I could take and get reapostered, but I am not sure if it is the best choice for the truck. I need a seat that will not be too thick in the back as I need it to slide as far back as possible. I am open to any ideas that might be out there. Bob Gil
  6. John I think the drums off the spoke should work (They would be inboard mounted), but I think they had a bigger drum on the rear than on the front. Trent I wish you were sloser to Texas I need a set of drums and spiders for S Cam's. The person that has the ones I have found is making it very hard for me to get them. I have been trying to get them for 3 months now and still waiting on them. And the price was a bit steaper than yous too. Bob Gil
