  1. A buddy of mine just picked up a B30 with a straight six gas engine. The VIN reads 5175 we would like to know its year if anyone knows off hand! The VIN plate also says its a B30 X. Thanks in advance guys! Jeff
  2. Thanks mark but we already tried that. I thought of the same thing but swapping the mounts only made things worse...we will get it sooner or later!
  3. Well i think the final decision is to move the mounts back about 4in on the frame so they line up with the tranny. I took some pics of what we are working with and our unique engine removing tool!
  4. Thanks Fred! We did know about the single and dual disk clutches but we were not sure about if we put the old bell housing and single disk with the newer more powerful engine if it would slip. He has a newer freightliner rear end with air ride so the drive line should be ok. And we do work the truck so i am thinking that we should use the dual disk. Thanks for the info! I took pictures today and will upload them when i get home.
  5. Yes we did actually find that the bell housings were different. We are trying to figure out why everything is not lining up as it should. Everything is Mack so thats what makes it hard to figure out the problem. We also have a B61 with a 20 speed and we keep going out to that to look and see whats different and from what we see the engine in that sits much lower in the frame and there is about 4in between the firewall and the engine....on the one we are trying to swap we only have an inch and the engine seems to need to be pushed back more. I will be taking pics tomorrow to help with this.
  6. My uncle and I are attempting to install a newer ENDT673C motor mated to a 20 speed transmission. The older engine had a 10 speed and when we installed the new motor we found that the transmission mounts did not line up right and we are about 4 inches off. When we measured the old tranny to the new one the 20 speed was 5in longer and the bell housings were almost the same. Im just wondering if anyone else has done this and has some advice for me. We are running out of ideas and our last thought was to drill new holes for the mounts on the frame to get them to line up. Thanks in advance! Jeff
  7. Thanks for the info! We are going to put the C in because he had it laying around and we are using a Mack intercooler and making it intercooled. Should be interesting with it all done!
  8. Hey guys me and my uncle are in the middle of changing engines out on his 62 B model. I have two serial numbers for the engines and i was wondering where i could find some info on them, like HP and other stuff like that. The older engine SN: ENDT673-87-8 Newer Engine SN: ENDT673C-2G4167 Any info would be appreciated!
  9. My uncle has got 2 old macks ones a B61 and the other is a B42. We are in the process of finding out what year they are and if someone has the list of serial numbers i will put them in here so you can look them up. The B61's number is SX 42867 and the B42 is X 22967. The other question i have is that the B61 we just got has the 11 24 rubber and he wants to know if they still make those tires anymore or if he can just switch the hubs from his other B61 and convert it to 22 inch rims? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks Jeff
  10. I just joined up on this site. I join for both me and my uncle. He has 3 macks and they are all B62's one is restored back to working condition and he uses hit to haul certain loads for people and the other two are this winters projects! I am 20 years old and i love these old trucks they are a blast to drive and i enjoy making them look nice!
