98 RD688 eradic idle after lift pump change

Hey guys. First post overs here. Truck runs good and strong. Started running out of fuel like you tirned the key off while driving. I could get it started with ether and it would run fine for the rest of the day sometimes or it would do it again. Eventually it wouldn’t pickup the fuel so we took it to the mechanic. He replaced the lift pump and pressure relief valve. Now it starts and runs but the idle rapidly increases and decreases. and back up to 1200 I have a video but it’s too large to upload here. And the reason I’m here. We just replaced the lift pump and fuel pressure relief valve. It was running great, and is now but has this funky idle that it wasn’t doing before. It’s up and down fairly quickly. Not a steady idle. The mechanic that did the work thinks there’s something in the injector pump causing the eradic idle. I’m trying to post a vid but it won’t let me if anyone would like me to text it to them to try to diagnose send me a pm and your number and I’ll send it to you I’ll post pics of the other rigs later today thanks

Hey guys. I’m Dustin. I work in the oil fields in the Texas panhandle. We have three Mack trucks 2 are workover units and one is an 80 bbl tank truck. I look forward to learning more about these trucks so that I can work on the. More myself. Thanks Dustin
