The arrival of the Anthem in Australia coincides with the launch of the new HD and XHD versions of the mDrive AMT - I was talking to one of the sales reps at VCV Newcastle on Facebook and the HD/XHD mDrives are equipped with low crawler ratios (one on the HD and two on the XHD). The Superliner and Titan will be the best equipped trucks for heavy haul and heavy roadtrain work with the HD and XHD mDrives

Hino is interesting in their model designations across the world.... what you guys call the M-Series is called the 300 Series in Australia. Hino Truck Sales Australia have a weird and wacky number system using odd numbering for their models:
300 Series - Light Duty Rigids (available in both conventional diesel and diesel-electric Hybrid)
500 Series - Medium-Heavy Duty Rigids (available in new Standard and Wide Cabs)
700 Series - Heavy Duty Prime Mover and Rigidshttps://www.hino.com.au/300

The CL was sold in Australia - it had a choice of three engines: two Mack engines (E7-454 I6 with 454hp or the E9-525 V8 with 525hp) or a Detroit Diesel Series 60. As for the CL Superliner, the only CL that got the Superliner name was the V8 powered one, if I remember correctly!

Nope - they are all right hand drives here!

Here's a R164G V8 580 (the most powerful Scania V8 built when this truck was new) with open pipes....

Mack Trucks Australia has launched the MP10 engine into the Australian market as an option on SuperLiner and Titan models - see below. Where America gets a 605hp rating, Australia receives 685hp. The last all-Mack engine was in the Titan and was the EA9-610 16 litre V8 rated at 610hp.
Following intense customer demand and anticipation, Mack Trucks will introduce its new Mack MP10 Eu5 SCR 16 litre engine range in the popular Super-Liner and Titan models, for order from 12 September 2011. The Mack MP10 is the most powerful engine ever released by Mack Trucks and with up to 685hp, it will be the most powerful engine under the bonnet of a conventional on-road truck in Australia. Coinciding with the MP10 release, a higher capacity Mack mDRIVE 12 speed automated manual transmission will be offered. This impressive addition is standard with the 685hp rating – being the only transmission strong enough to handle the MP10’s prodigious 2,300 lb-ft torque output. The first customer vehicles will be delivered mid-2012.

Hi Joe,
Have moved out to Watta near Cowra. Pity to be the one to miss the Dubbo truck show. I hope to catch up when I get back from contract in ACT end or 2010.
Been looking for an 8x4 and am offered a MIR-MSR600 but don't know much about them, hopefully somebody can shed some light on their spec.
regards, Huey
Huey,
The only Mack MIR I've ever seent was a MIR785RST - 285hp Maxidyne diesel engine and a twin stick 6 speed gearbox!

Thanks Barry and Mike!
As I said earlier, this was the first show Rod had taken the old girl to west of the Blue Mountains - have more but will wait to post them into another topic!

G'day guys!
Thought I had better share this photo of HeyCharger's 1961 Mack B-61 - first time out at the Golden Oldies Truck Club Truck Show in Dubbo, NSW, Australia!

Joe,
Mack owned Brockway from 1956 to 1977 - when Mack closed Brockway down in 1977, Mack Trucks Australia were fortunate enough to be able to obtain the dies to the cab on the old 527 series and made the cab for this, the MIR700:
3/4 RHS:
Head on:
This is the 527's cab on a R785RST chassis!

Hi all,
A big time advance notice for the above show!
Calling all vintage truck owners in Australia: the Golden Oldies Truck Club are holding their 3rd Truck and Tractor Show at the Dubbo Showground on Saturday the 7th and Sunday the 8th of August, 2010.... setup is on the Friday prior. A handy place for old truck owners to put their trucks if they are heading up to the Alice for the 2010 Reunion!
This year sees a handy addition to the variety of vehicles and tractors on offer: any breed of stationary engine is invited along!
For further info, visit the Golden Oldies Truck Club by clicking on the link or calling Ed Eminson on 0419405491 or me by replying to this!

Whoever has said the front end (grille) looks like a KB-Series is dead-set right - the LoneStar 's design team went back to the days of the KB for the grille!
There's also a new HD edition - will find link to it when I get home!

Here's my favourite non-Mack truck - again, the most popular truck make in this thread.... this is "Bruiser", a 1975 Brockway F761TL and he calls my home town, Dubbo, NSW, Australia home!

Hey, nice trucks Chris. That White looks even cooler in the Australian version with the big breather snorkels. I always liked those old 4000's and the Constructors/Autocars. Good job.
I've got a friend over in Bannockburn, Victoria that just restored an International Transtar cabover.
That Roadboss with the K19 must be something eh!
Bullheaded,
That mate of your's wouldn't be Rick Hayman, would it??? If so, he did a bloody mootzer of a job on him - he named him "Transtarasaurus Rex"! And what a suitable name!

one more to dream of
If they still had the smokin' V8 and air start under the bonnet of our Titan, mopar, I'd be in heaven! I remember driving past a 610 horsepower V8 Titan one afternoon after I had finished work and that sound went through the floor of me old man's ute (pick-up truck to you fellows) and up through me feet - man, I felt good for ages afterwards!
Joe
PS: You can dream - I would love to see Australia's Titan in the New Breed!
-
The only digital photo I have is posted in "My Garage" Not a very good picture though. Hopefully I can get some more this summer.
I'm a long way off from a Titan purchase, but hey I can dream right?
Orange52Mack,
Photo there is clear enough for me - of course ya can!

Thread's kinda dead, but I would love a Titan with a Cummins, especially if I could get an orange one. It would match my LT quite nicely.
Orange52Mack,
I'd like to see your LTL - have you any photos or a garage for it here??? As for the Titan with a Cummins, I'm gonna keep me fingers crossed for yas in the hope that Mack America will fit a Cummins engine into your Titan!

Hi Scott - Mack did make the E9 electronic. It became the EA9 and was rated at 610hp - a friend of mine has a Titan with the EA9-610 V8 in it. The last EA9 was made in 1999 (I think)
