  1. If you follow the electrical out of the vgt control on the turbo it with go to a plug. I unplug those to get the turbo out of the way completely. Ratchet wrenches with flex heads work pretty good for the back bolts. I always pull the outside bolts then the rear front bolt and spin the turbo to help loosen the bolts in the rear rear if that makes sense.

    Mack E Tech

    So here is the deal. I'm helping a friend with an older mack with the E Tech in it. He just did a motor swap and had the ECM reflashed for the reman motor. The problem is it is still running poorly and throwing a code saying mid:128 sid: 231 fmi: 8 blink code 6-8. We did a cylinder cutout test and got no change in how the motor runs with cylinder number 5 cut out. That tells me number 5 is dead. We checked the eup, injector, cam, lifter, timing, ran the rack on it twice, and pressure tested the cylinder. I know the code is for the data link on the J-1939 but would that have anything to do with number 5 being dead? Any insight or help would be awesome.
