  1. No, I didn't buy the trailer - I don't move enough wood to justify its use. How long was the truck up for sale? It needs a lot of work - seems like previous owners were cutting corners regularly. And because this is my first time thru, I often don't know exactly what I am looking at, or where to begin. Thanks for the sound advice. I hope I can get my hands on that parts truck. Look forward to hearing from you man...
  2. Sounds like it works well, but I am having a hard time visualizing this. You are saying just get rid of it all and run a 3/16 guage cable between the accelerator pedal and the other end? Can you send pics or something to help me get the idea?
  3. As you can tell, I am in the throes of going over this old truck and finding lots of things to fix. Now I am looking for a throttle linkage - the parts apparatus that runs between the rod that comes across the front of the radiator and the boomerang shaped jobber that is actuated by the accelerator. I can't affford to buy all this stuff from Mack. Any sources on this for an 83 cruiseliner?
  4. I just noticed that the driver's side bracket at the front of the cab, attached to the frame and on which the cab pivots when jacked up or down is half gone. Seems like a critical piece. Do I have to buy this from Mack or have yous seen any of these around for a cruisliner?
  5. What kind of pressure is required to tilt the cab?
  6. I'm not interested in originality, but I don't understand. What is a porta power pump?
  7. Who knows something about the pumps that lift the cab up? Mine leaks pretty badly - are there seal kits available? If not, maybe (used) replacement pumps around? Who manufactured them? Is there much variety among the pumps used on the COE model Macks?
  8. Anyone know where I can find a fuel tank strap like the busted one in the photo (Fwd Pass strap) to fit a 1983 Superliner?
  9. That's great! Whereat? I will probably end up needing a whole bunch of parts down the road, but for right now, I could really use the the engine oil dipstick, grilledensor, the windshield and the rubber (if they can be salvaged undamaged). Thanks Doug
  10. Can anyone comment on the reputation of the mack 350? And where can learn more about it?
  11. Does anyone know where I can find a (used) replacement grill and windshield (with stripping) for an 83 cruiseliner?
  12. Hey, I just bought a 1983 Mack Cruiseliner with a hood knuckleboom loader on the back. I log with horses and this is my new rig, but it needs some work before I can put it on the road. This is my first piece of large equipment and I want to learn more about the truck and get some leads on where to get parts. How much information is out there, in terms of repairs and specs? For instance repair manuals or publications, like a Haynes or a Chiltons for big trucks? If I call my VIN in to Mack, will they be able to tell me about the truck (e.g. engine, suspension, brakes etc.)? And where would one look for parts to restore this old girl?
