  1. I am restoring a R model that had a five speed. I have installed an Allison HT 740 auto and have been trying to figure out what to do with the modular. Trans did not come with kick down linkage. I do have the shifter. A Allison dealer recommended going with a plug kit to bypass it. What are your thoughts. The truck is a toy and will only be used for shows and drive around town. He did say it would shift a little harder.

    Thanks Don

  2. Guys, I don't remember any air or electric wires running to my five speed transmission. Unfortunately I got rid of the trans a long time ago, just not enough room to keep everything. I just need to know if I can make the Allison work. The truck is just a big toy and will not be used for anything other than a truck or tractor show. I have been working on this for several years. I need to get it done before I forget where everything goes. The reversing relay on my truck has one 1/4 air line fitting and a 12 volt pressure switch. The line ran back to the fire wall to a tee, one ran the the discharge side of the park brake and the other line, I don't remember, my location tag fell off. I can take some pics for you guys if it would help.

  3. I hope someone can help. I have a ENDTB676 engine with the puff eliminator and trying to figure out line connections. The truck was disassembled for restoration and some of my air line and wire markers came off. The truck originally had the five speed manual (TR722). I removed and installed a allision HT 740D transmission that came off another Mack 300 engine. I am not sure if I am missing parts to make this work. Can anyone help.

    Thanks Don

  4. I believe I have a 1924 model. That is what I was told. I can’t find the pointer reference for the timing. I accessed threw the rectangular cover plate at the fire wall . Found number mark on the flywheel. I also think I should have the Jug head motor, but have the later style with removable heads. Should the pointer be somewhere around the top of the flywheel. I have another parts truck with the Jug head engine and the pointer is at the top of the flywheel. Does the later engine have the pointer elsewhere? Truck serial is 10313759

    Thanks Don

  5. Don Jr. I measured mine the one with u-joints is 33" long to center of yokes. The one with flange mounts is 30" long. Joe D.

Thanks for the information. I measured from the back of my Allison to the rear end. This is going to require two Very short! drive line connections. Will need to talk to my drive shaft guy to see if it is even possible. From the Transmission mounting flange to the center line of the rear end is only 57". Subtracting 33" for the length of the Auxiliary, this only leaves 24" for two drive lines. This is going to be a tough one. Does anyone have any thoughs on this.

  6. I think the Plant Supervisor should talk to the Purchasing Manager and go to work with a really big lunchbox one day.....

How about a couple pics of your R project?

I read what I wrote in my post. It sounds a little arrogant. I really did not mean it to come out that way. I think one thing and write another. I am definitely not that way. In the future I will proof read a little closer!. About your question about pictures, I do have pictures showing what I started with, and where I am now. I have not figured out yet how to post them! As soon as I get it worked out, I will post some of them.

    Thanks Don
