  1. I started with paint thinner , a little #1 and#2 fuel and what ever else ends up in there. Doesn't have the offensive odor of the commercial solvents. This is a shop built unit about 30 gals. and the pump is a foot from the bottom, never changed the solvent in 20 years, cleaned the sludge out once.

  2. :SMOKIE-RT: I've been looking for a driver side framerail for my 89 RW 700 . But I have not had much luck finding a good one near me. A friend of mine has a complete rolling chassis for a early 80's Superliner 1 . What do you guys think of the idea of reworking my Superliner 2 cab and parts onto a Superliner 1 Chassis?

Stay with the second generation, steering setup, radiator support, and hood attachment are problem areas on the first generation.

  3. A friend has a 1950 LJSW and it has not been run very much-mostly idling. We were moving some other equipment in the garage last week and left the LJ idling some distance outside from the door. When we got around to it, the engine was missing on one cylinder and raw fuel was leaking from the bottom of the exhaust. We tried to get the temperature up by driving it to see if perhaps the accumulated carbon may have blocked something. That did not help and I am puzzled as to what happened. There is no fuel in the oil but I'm not sure that rules out a cracked piston. Perhaps a stuck exhaust valve might be the culprit? The 190 Cummins has been well maintained and only has 103,000 miles on it but it has not been run up to operating temperature for years. When it has been moved and left running, it has run very well but not for long periods of time. Any suggestions before we start tearing it down would be most appreciated.

    Best regards,

    John

You have sticking plunger you can unstick without removing the injector, but if it is scored it will stick again. You are going to have a very serious problem if raw fuel drips into the cylinder and you crank the engine, use the compression release. I wouldn't do anything else without first checking the injector.

  4. Will the hood, fenders, and radiator from a B75 interchange with a B61. That is, match up to the cab?

We can buy my old B61 back. It's not 20 miles from us. My son might like to fix up the old truck he was raised with.

    Thanks,

The cab is about 2 inches higher off the frame on on the models with the aluminum radiator, verses the tin shell. I have seen it done, aluminum radiator on a B 61, the hood slopes upto the radiator.

  5. ive got a 97 ch613 with 46k rears on hendrickson walking beam suspension. my problem is the tandems bounce between 60 & 70 mph.had it to a shop and they say everything [ bushings, springs] are fine. i can see them bounce in the mirror, so its no little thing. its shaking my truck apart, i need help...............thanks

A small amount of water in a tire will cause it to bounce at high speed go away then bounce again. It took 80K miles for me to discover water in them, new drives no more hop.

  6. Applications where the engine is supported at the flywheel housing, there are two 5/8 studs at about the 11 and 1 0clock positions. You could try the B model hangars and brackets, they might not fit because the B frame widens and I think the fire truck frame is straight thru. I would just bolt it up.
