could anyone please tell me how heavy my truck is? It's a 1949 lfsw with nothing on the rear.
Thanks. Stephen Ellis

Thanks Greg, knowing here it comes from is giving me the inspiration to get it home and start work.
Looking at the other two and knowing what mine will look like is fantastic. I didn't know there was such a following of Mack trucks. Thank you all for the words of encouragement, I'm sure it will be worth all the hard work.

Thank's Paul,
Going to start digging her out this weekend. Looking forward to getting her home. If you had the same sort of challenge what were the brakes like? If I can getting rolling I will save a fortune on recovery. Cant wait to start the mission. Think engine first then who knows.......

I am just finishing off my land rover then I will begin digging out the truck. There are 2 more that I have found but I think one at a time would be best. I already have an idea about what color to paint it but I think that's quite far in the future. I am going to keep a blog of my progress.

Thanks guys. It was sold to the CIA in 1949 and used until it was sold at an army sale in the UK in 1967.
It has USAF numbers on it and came with a mobile command unit but that is like Swiss cheese.
Going to restore it as original as possible but I'm sure parts will be hard to find.
Got to dig it out, free off the brakes and drag it home. love a challenge !

I am not sure how original I am going to keep it. I think it may depend on how tough it is to get parts. I would love to get it back to the way it was the day it left the factory. I think it may be worth more but now I have it I am not letting it go !just going to take it one step at a time. Will keep you posted as I go along. just need to remember to take photos as I go.

Yup ! Edinburgh Scotland. I'm an optimist ! Any ideas where I can get parts from in the UK?

p.s just had a thought, the winch on the front is a monster ........ so it can pull its self out.
now just a small matter of getting the engine started.

I am in Edinburgh.
This is the first Mack I've ever owned so its going to be an adventure
Just finishing off restoring a series 3 land rover but I am sure that is small potatoes compared to the truck.
Got to dig it out and give it a good pull with my land rover....... we will see who wins.

Thank you, I am going to need all the advice you guys can give me.
Will keep you posted with my progress.

Thank to everyone who has helped me identify this truck. She is a LFSW made in 1949 and was first supplied to the CIA.
I am contacting the owner tomorrow with the hope he will sell it to me. If so then the fun begins.
Thanks again, Stephen Ellis

Hi guys, got some more info on the truck. It looks like the frame number is LF but the number on the cab is LM diesel engine and after market crane on the rear.
How do I find out more about it? and are parts easy enough to come by?
p.s it has 20" rims if that helps.
Any info would be appreciated

Thanks. will have a look tomorrow and let you know.
Spoke to the guy in the mack museum and with the frame number he will be able to tell me all the info on her.
