  1. I have purchased a 1983 Mack r model straight truck. it has a e-6 350 engine and a 12 speed that doesn't shift. I bought the truck to swap the suspension out so I would have s-cam brakes but after pressure washing it up found the trunnion was cracked and almost broke in 2. I am wanting to put the brake parts in my B-model B-53 tandem dump truck with wedge brakes. they don't hardly work enough to stop a loaded truck any way. Will the brake parts fit on the old b-model or will I have to change the axle housings. All help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  2. Could I take a pump off of a 237 and put that on there? Might get a few more dogs out of it maybe? My buddy has a pump from a 237 in his shop he said I could try.
  3. It is a roosamaster with the copper washers between the injector line and the pump and on the head of the bolt holding the line onto the pump. It has an electric fuel pump by the fuel tank and a spin on filter there as well. It runs good sometimes and then again it won't make 25mph. Took the tank off flushed it out and installed new fuel lines. Cleaned the screen in the injector pump as well. If I take the other injector pump off of my 63 B-model with a turbo do I have to change the injectors to match the pump? If I do all that will the pistons hold up,being a non turbo engine? Maybe I should try a higher volume/gpm electric fuel pump. I want to start hauling gravel and time is getting close to hit 'er. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.
  4. I have a thermodyne engine, non turbo in my 1965 b-model. It is a Roosamaster pump. Is that a cheap fix or was roosamaster put on some Macks? I put some of those pumps on logging equipment and stationary pumps for water and generators. It runs pretty good but was wondering if that was what was used back then. I have a 1963 B-model for parts and it has a bosch pump on it. Any help would be appreciated.
  5. Thanks for the info. I have a cutoff with walking beam suspension. It has the brake chamber mounts and hoses and release valves on it. If the drums aren't too bad I'll change them as well as the shoes. It pays to put new hardware in when removing the shoes. I found that out the hard way once. OK Thanks.
  6. How hard is it to convert wedge brakes to s cam? A buddy told me to take the spiders off and drums, shoes and hardware. An other one said to change the suspension with another cutoff would be easier. I think changing the spiders(bolt on back plates with the s cam setup) and new drums and shoes and hardware to make it safe is a good bet. Is it possible to do this? Any help will be appreciated.
