  1. When you go to pick up your "L" it would be REALLY nice if you could sneak a couple pics of the B Model............
  2. The fender doesn't look too bad. S**t happens to firetrucks too. The holder in front of the fender looks like a holder for a 4 1/2" soft suction hose. The two boxes on the officer's side aren't from the factory tho they could have been installed by the dealer. Everything was an option with Mack other than the basics. They even charged extra to cut off the roof to make an open cab. Some folks get all waxy about the truck having to look like it did when it was delivered however most judging at SPAAMFAA events allow that any modifications made to the apparatus while it was in service are considered original in terms of judging. Just imagine how many people could restore a 707C to a B Model that has had a diesel installed while it was in service. BTW, the gold leaf striping on the body looks like original, if not original, when it was redone they reapplied the exact same corner fuer d' lies (fancy corner thingies) as the factory used. That reminds me, are you a SPAAMFAA member?? If not, you should consider it. There are a couple of Chapters in MA that are active plus one or two in CT. Check out their web site at www.spaamfaa.org for more info. Their publications alone are worth the membership price.
  3. Congratulations!!! I think that was a good buy. The bell with the proper mount alone is worth over a grand. BTW, I don't know exactly where you are but in Easton, MA there is a good fire truck shop, Mercier Garage, Fred Mercier and his crew are very good and fair. That rear spotlight should be easy to find, if you find one without the Mack logo on top, I might have a source for one. The chrome looks decent from the photos. I would recommend a polish like Flitz or Maas which are lower in abrasives than Simichrome. I'm sure getting it home will be an interesting experience also. BTW, do they want to sell the B model???
  4. I hate to be suspicious, however I strongly suspect that the "gentleman" that advertised the truck on Craigslist was trying to make himself a quick bunch of money. The original ad said $18,000 if I recall correctly. The man in charge tells you price has not been determined yet but under 10K. Any idea where the restored B model was from?? Use caution and, as the members said, check everything carefully or have a qualified fire truck guy/mechanic check it with you. Good luck.
  5. Found the Craigslist ad for the L Model. You can see "Kittery" on the back of the engine. Kittery had, if my old memory serves me, this L Model and an equally pristene B Model that sold for large money when they got rid of it. Can't remember specifics but it was back when Mack guru Mel Clark was still with us.
  6. I saw the photos on Craigslist for this truck and am pretty sure it is from Kittery Maine. The last I knew of it, it was pretty pristene. Kittery took their apparatus upkeep seriously. Good luck with acquisition!
