My son picked up the red Superliner from local Mack dealer last Thurs. afternoon after spending nearly 5 weeks in shop getting a new Re-man E6-350 engine, hauled 1 load of hogs to Ottumwa, other than a fuel leak all was fine,2 loads to Beardstown Fri.,2 this Mon. On the way home Mon. day, new engine blew up. Tow it in,Tues. a.m. to dealer ,get it in shop, they started at top, found 2 bent push rods. I tried to get them to drop pan,but they pissed around waiting on new push rods, put them in basically for nothing, yesterday afternoon finally got them to pull the pan, to find a twisted rod and a bunch of shrapnel,WTF!!! Needless to say I'm beyond pissed, spent $35000 ,everything under hood new and didn't get 2000 miles!!

Sorry to hear that.....I would hope the dealer would take care of you.

That's why I mention Ford  Truck, the F-4 and larger look closer to the sizes for the over load snubbers, but the Merc and Lincolins had a 3 3/4 diameter snubbers on the Senior models. It's a place to start from.

    Thanks again....

  3. image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpgLast fall I bought an old carnival high striker game...the kind with a big wooden hammer and bell. I figure the kids would have a ball playing around with it. The top half with the bell is fine but the botten part you hit is rotten and needs to be rebuilt. There is a 4" round rubber bumper that is retained by a metal "shackle" that I'm guessing came from a truck suspension. Anybody know the application this was originally intended for? And if a replacement is available? Thanks....

    Very nice!

From the New Bedford FD museum?? Loadstar where are you?

image.jpgGreat  pictures! I met a couple of brothers at the Rhode Island antique fire truck show a few years ago that were big into AF's......I'm guessing those are part of their collection. Very nice guys. New Bedford only has one AF piston pumper left......at one time they had 11. Here's a picture of the last one at the museum....

The "L" model Mack is a 1942 model, one of two Macks sold to the U.S. Navy and sent to the Bethlehem Steel Shipyard in Hingham, MA. After the war this particular

Mack was sold to the Paxton, MA Fire Department where it was Engine 3. It later found its way to the Rhode Island SPAAMFAA group who did a complete

restoration. The twin Mack was sold to the Boston,MA Fire Department where it was assigned to Engine 54 at the Long Island Hospital fire brigade. I don't know

what happened to it after Boston.
