  1. Ok what has to be modified. Is it to wide cause the hieght isnt a huge issue.
  2. So now i have a 237 which is fine but is sorta leaky. Now I have access to a Detroit 8v71 and a 13 speed road ranger. Does anyone have a Detroit swapped into a B model. I have searched a lot and came up with pretty much nothing but people saying how bad and noisy they are haha.
  3. Okay so better stick with the B cab then. Thanks alot. It would look a little odd as a signal axle anyhow haha
  4. I would like to know more about this. Seems to me that Mack offered some b73 series with the old Lj Cabs. Does the front end match up well or whats involved to swapping over. A local truck junk yard i know of has a good L cab and B cab. The L would be different and cool but i dont know how to go about swapping them.
  5. Well after about 2 months i finally got my mack model b home safe and sound. I found it on craigslist in Newport, RI. Its a 1956 Model B61t with a 237, 5 speed, and rear end from an 84 r model and maxi cam brakes. It was convetered to a dump truck a while ago and most likely had the drivetrain swapped at the same time. On the drive home my father couldn't for his life get the truck to downshift, so he was stuck in high gear join up hills and he almost lost it on a few. Good thing the motor lugs down to about 800rpm and still pulls fairly well. It needs some minor body work and a good going through. Though the truck runs great as far as the motor, and drives very straight and true. My first question to you guys would be how would one go about making the rear duals track true, because they are wobbling for about an inch for two and looked pretty darn scary driving behind it. We had to get new tires for the rear so in the middle of newport swapped some 10.00-20 powerking crossbar tires with new rims but used the old spacers, could that be it? Thanks in advanced. Hope pictures work
  6. My buddy has an 1966 international fleetstar 2000 road tractor converted to a dump. Its got 220 cummins, 5 speed, 2 speed rear and is in rough shape So does anybody know Where could he get body parts for it. Thsnks
  7. ok thanks will get pictures up whn i get it. Probably not for another week or so
  8. Also what would be the best approach to shifting the five speed from the 85, double or single clutching or clitchless. I was just thinking that it would seem to me harder to get perfect clitchless shifts because it's a syncroed tranny with wide ratios
  9. Thanks for all the quick responses Do any of u guys know what kind gvrw a b61t would be around, like high 20s, 30s or what, the owner didn't know I know it is a b61t for tractor and it was converted to a dump truck, most Likely when the people before swapped drivetrain
  10. i plan of on using it for everyday summer use and maybe get a large trailer to tow around. Mostly for contracting and maybe a show or two
  11. hi am new I'm going to be buying a 1956 model b61t mack thats now a dump truck from a guy in newport R.I. it has an 85 or 84 drivetrain swapped in. So its a 237, 5 speed and not sure about axle. It has maxi brakes and is a single rear axle. i would like to know what the 61 means in b61, is it just a destination as far as say f250, f350, or k10 or k20. Also would the 5 speed be enough for a truck like this. I mean i know it can do the job, I'm just wanting to put in say an fuller 10 speed. And would jakes in a truck this small be unsafe or unpractical. Thanks, will get picture up soon.
