I would love if the stars could align, and that truck could be my third B70. Unfortunately I don't have the resources to give it the home it deserves. My mind is blown that it had a factory diesel.

Matt's phone number is 203-266-6455, he is awesome to deal with and has a good selection of parts. If he doesn't have one let me know; I have a 707 in a B70, but I would have to see if the pump is any good. Best of luck with your truck.

Thanks for the compliments, it is a lot of work keeping one of those engines going. Depending upon condition, most antique steam traction engines in PA run between 100 - 150 psi. A lap seam boiler (where the seam of the boiler is overlapped on itself and riveted) is only allowed 100 psi because it is a weaker design. A butt strap boiler ( the ends of the boiler at the seam are butted together, and a strap is riveted on the outside and inside of the boiler) is allowed to operate up to 150. A fun fact one other owner told me is that a square foot of steam at 100 psi has the same expansion force as 10 pounds of dynomite.

I like the draw bar pulling idea, but no one is ever dumb enough to try against me. I've pulled steam engines a couple of times, but we usually put on a spark show. We build up as much steam as the pressure relief will allow, and fill the firebox with saw dust. My friends and I usually add crushed corn cobs, cedar shavings, and sometimes straw to get a more intense flame out the stack. Then we hook to a pulling sled.
Here is the engine I operate, 1916 Geiser "Peerless" class R. Made in Waynesboro, PA. It weighs 17,000 pounds when full of water, 13 nominal / 40 maximum horsepower. Torque.... I'm not really sure, it has a lot.
We even have the best old trucks to get them place to place.

Glad to hear that a Farquhar is being restored. I used to run a Geiser "Peerlees" that had the boiler replaced by Farquhar. They made great boilers. What is your pressure rated at? Best of luck.

Just for fun I wanted to decorate my B70 parts truck for Christmas.
We are finally going to have a white Christmas for once. Merry Christmas everybody!

I know a guy in Newville, Pennsylvania that is a huge Oliver collector. His name is Harry Barrick of Barricks Tire, phone number (717) 776 5762. Harry might be able to help you, or point you in the right direction.

There are people on here who know better than I do. Maybe one of them will add some information. The business is on the family farm. The main part of the business is heavy equipment, buying selling repairing. I think he is still a dealer in Northwest cranes or some brand. I had heard he was a Euclid dealer at one time. They do some heavy hauling. They buy and sell old trucks and maybe newer trucks too. You can check out their web site. Search Gerhart Equipment. You can see what they have for sale.
Brent, Did you buy it? I've been taking pictures of that truck for years. They will haul it or contact Ray on here. A mid sized tow truck would do the job. The BX is my favorite truck in the yard followed by the A model with the Windsor Asphalt sign. He gave the signs to John Haines who currently owns Windsor Service. The guy who drove the golf cart in the picture is taking the signs off. I think they should take the whole truck and restore it.
Mike
Mike, I haven't paid for it yet but I said I wanted it. They said they would call me when they could tie it in with another delivery. If you need any pictures or want to see it after I get it feel free to ask. Thanks for the info!

I agree. It sucks when people try to be nice they get taken advantage of or something else stupid like this happens.

Mike, I am really glad to hear you got the B70! It was good to see you at the show. Now I just need to get your old engine into my B70.
-
Thanks for the picture of the infamous B70, wish I had seen it at the show. Hopefully someday my B70 will be there.

Thanks for the info on the 633. It is in the process of restoration right now. I really like the rat rod tractor, and you have an awesome collection. I will try to attach pictures of the 633 before restoration, and my B-60 that is my pride and joy. I wonder if someone at the Ardentsville, PA show would have one of those push buttons?
-
That is an awesome RJ! I don't have much experience with that model, but does the switch have two wires that go down to the points to short them to ground? I know on my 633 that it just has a push button on the points cover to shut it off. I don't know how original you want to keep it, but you could make a little cover for the hole and drill the center of it to fit a toggle switch.

Thank you for asking this because I've been wondering the same question.
