  1. Were the engine brakes rebuilt at the same time that the engine was rebuilt? Make sure the Front brake assembly was installed on the front head and that the Rear brake assembly was installed on the rear head (there is an id tag on the housings that says which housing is which). Make sure the valve and brake adjustments were set correctly as well. I think your engine should have the alternate exhaust lash setting. Were you losing turbos before the rebuild or did that start after the engine was rebuilt?

    Regarding the turbo failures:

Clean any oil that has accumulated in the inlet manifold and the charge air cooler.

Clean all turbocharger failure debris from the air cleaner and inlet air ducts.

Clean all debris from the exhaust manifold (and EGR cooler if applicable).

Inspect and clean the turbocharger oil supply line and oil drain tube.

Replace the turbocharger mounting flange gasket, oil drain tube gasket(s) or O-ring (as applicable) and the turbocharger mounting studs and nuts.

Change the engine oil and filters.

    Pre-lube the replacement turbocharger.

Additionally you need to make sure the correct turbo is being installed and that it is the current revision level. The turbos make look the same but they are different.

Where is the tag for the jake housings, I don't find them on the outer housing.

  2. Does anyone know of any tractor trailer combo's using this system? I called Telma and the gentleman I spoke with said they do not recommend them for combo units, his theory is that they may lock up and cause a jack knife...My response to him was why he was worried about them locking up on a combo unit but not on a straight truck set up...He had no reply.

I am needing something as my jakes on my 97' E7 454 are pretty much worthless.

  3. It is simply the main fuel pump plug !When you have this apart look at it head on and see if there are any signs of heat, brown looking areas on any of the plastic pin bosses If you find any that look discolored I would go to the dealer and have it repined!

So far so good, I took the plug apart and blew it out, checked the pins and three are starting to discolor but the bosses looked OK. I'm not sure what fixed my problem sense I replaced the timing sensor at the same time as the wires were bare rite where they meet the sensor. I did wiggle the wires around and the motor never missed a beat so I don't think it was the sensor.

    Thanks for the everyone.

  4. Thanks for the info, I will try clearing the plug and see what happens, what is this plug called?? It keeps getting progressively worst so I'm thinking it is fuel related, at first I was thinking a sensor or something electrical.

  5. I have a 1997 ch613, the heat and a/c controls that do not operate correctly. When on heat it blows out the defrost, when on vent it blows out the defrost. I can hear the vent doors opening and closing when switching from heat to vent to defrost but no change in where it blows, I also have problems with outside air coming in big time. I have tried to find how to get to the vent doors but can't seem to find them.

  6. I have a 1997 ch613 with an E7 454 that has developed a hiccup. It acts as if it stops running for just a fraction of a second and then continues to run, it does this with cruise on or off while cruising at road speed. Sometimes this creates a pretty good jerk and other times this happens much smoother, this can happen several times a day or just once or twice. Any ideas??
