So it sounds like it was a pretty fair deal. We so can't wait to really start on the restoration. The cab and interior we want to restore to original - we're going to make the back a flat bed car hauler for our business.

Just out of curiosity - what is a fair price to pay for an EH in the condition ours is in?

The cab is for sure an EH model. We are still searching the frame for any numbers that might help with the final truck ID. Thank you again to all for your help!

No numbers on the frame - looks like they may have welded it there at some point. No tag on the seat riser - but there is a tag we found bolted to the front of the cab, thinking they may have moved it to there for some reason? THAT makes it an EH I think - the number is 15EH1196. Perhaps the mystery is solved!

The seller called us with the paperwork he found that he says is the original - the connection was bad but it sounded like 1933 DES9TA - he's calling us later from a landline to re-read it. The problem is that DE was not made till '39, so either his year is wrong or the model he read us is wrong. And of course if it IS actually EH the year is also wrong. So part of the mystery continues :-) I did send the info we found to the Mack Museum, Don there is helping us to figure it all out. Thanks again to everyone!!!!

It appears to be the same as this one, unfortunately I didn't focus on the model, I was too busy drooling over the B-67 and the H-67 there. (Click on it to make it large)

Just a quick thanks to all of you - this a very friendly and helpful little community! We'll definitely continue to be a part, and will post pics of the restoration as we go. Hoping to get those papers from the seller this week - should clear up once and for all what this truck is. We've stripped it now - ready to start some fabricating! Looking forward to getting this ready for the GoodGuys show next year. Quite a tight schedule but we're determined :-)

Hi Calfabz, that is a parts #, probably front axle. The chassis # that tells you what model and serial # your truck is. It is stamped on the chassis rail at the back of the truck not exactly sure of its exact location. These trucks were built from about 1936 up. My guess is EH. Regards jeffro

We've checked for numbers on the chassis rail all front, rear, sides tops & bottom - no luck. Nearly all of the parts on the truck seem to include a "Q" in their part numbers - could this mean that they were made for an "EQ" series - or are they pretty standard part #'s? Found a few EQ's that look pretty close to this - but also quite a few EH's. Still haven't heard back from the Mack Museum. If anyone has a contact there I could talk to that would be great! Hoping to get all the papers on the truck later this week too - we really hope that will shed some light.

Looks to be an "EH"-"EQ" series to me being single drive axle. Appears to be an EN-354 Mack built engine. Lots of parts still available for those trucks but it will take some looking, and prepare to part with the funds over the duration.

Thanks Rob! The engine in it amazingly is in great shape, runs without a problem. This site has been great - people are already contacting us with parts they have for it. Much of the metal we will fabricate ourselves, that's what we do. Hoping to get it done in time for the GoodGuys show next year :-)

That looks more like a parts # stamping too me.The serial # on a E model is stamped on the right frame rail back by the rear spring hanger.

Thanks - we'll check that. It looks like it has aftermarket springs though, hoping the numbers are still there!

This looks very much like it! The guy we bought ours from swears it's a '32 - but I don't see anything from '32 that matches ours. Closer to '42, I think he got his years mixed up. He just called today and said he found the paperwork (original pink slip!) and is going to bring it by later this week when he's in the area. Hoping that may clear up some of these questions too :-)

Thank you all for your help! I've checked again, and it definitely looks like a 3, not a backwards E. I've posted pics of the numbers/symbols on the frame - don't know if that will help. The "Q" in the pic looks like an "O", but is for sure a "Q". I have also emailed the Mack Museum, hope to hear from them soon.

PS - This came with the original engine, which we got running to drive it into our shop - can't wait to finish restoring this! We're going to leave that engine in it - still runs like a charm. I'll add pics as we progress too :-)

Are you sure the 3 is not an E there is an EHQ model in the E sreies. terry

Positive - I've quadruple checked it. There is also a mark stamped not far from it that is a W with a line across the top of the middle. Don't know if that means anything.

The Chassis Number is 3-QH-312 (not positive if it's the original but we were told it was). We've been searching pics online for days and can't seem to find any that really look like ours. All of them have something that just doesn't match. Seems closest to late 30's/early 40's E series - but it looks like the E series start with E-OH-####. If any of you can help us ID this we would really appreciate it! If you know where any other identifying marks are that would help let us know. Here's a link to a few pics of the truck:
