  1. Hey fellas, Im making a trade and getting out of this 625hp/4.2MPG Pete 379 EXHD. Shes a beauty but the milage is killing me.

I found an 08 CHU with a MP8 with only 200,xxx miles and im making the trade next week. Ive got a Granite TriAxle with MP7 power, a late model Pete flat top, and a Freight shaker. (not to mention 4 B'!)

I cant leave well enough alone and the mack looks kinda boring next to the Petes...My idea is to put some Austrailian style twin air intakes that stand tall in the air for beginers...where can i buy these things in the States?

    Thanks,

    Shawn

  2. One of the other options is Stainless steel tank skins. They fit over the stock tanks. The company advertised in Over Drive Magizine alot. The local Mack / Volvo / Paacar Dealer has or had them in stock. I coan probbly go through my isues of O.D. mags if you want to go that way. Paul

41~ If you dont mind can u get the contact info on the tanks skinz? I cant seem to find them on the net...Thanks in advance.

  3. My little Granite has got some down time this winter and im thinking of paying her some attention after all her hard work. The tanks are all aluminum and im wanting them to shine....do i need to just pull them off and "wheel" them out with polish or is there a replacement tank that is more maintanence free? Im also thinking of putting dura bright alcoas and repainting the dump bed as well. I think it will make her look great!

Any pics of a doll'd up granite?

    Thanks Guys!

  4. No not grease its sunday lol...hey guys, ive been looking for parts for my old dog and i guess 1st things 1st i need to know what exactly she is. I think shes a B75 maybe LT, to be for sure i need to find the VIN and i orginally thought it was on the frame just forward of the right side or left spring hanger... but no good. I need help finding this # since the cab has no tags/placards indicating. BTW i need a cab badly if anyone has an idea please let me know. Kevin at Old Mack Trucks may be my only source. currently i have located some 1 B61 tractor, 4 B81 dumps (i think) but i cant get the owner to sell me anything in my budget not to mention the cabs are marginal at best. Any help would be apprectiated :thumb:

  5. Yep,I spotted a few errors.

    B introduced in '53,not '50 and ran thru '66

H models, introduced in '53 came before the G(actually the Manhattan in 1905 was the first Mack COE)

FS was steel frame Western F,didn't mean F with sleeper

F was eastern built, not just a non sleeper

RW didn't mean R Western,it was model designation for the Superliner,RS and RL were the Western R models

Cruiseliner wasn't built in Macungie until Hayward was closed in '81.

    Think that was it.

    :notworthy:

  6. Hey fellas thanks for the warm welcome! Where is the board based out of? just curious.

Im 33 and was riding "Block Trucks"(MRs MBs Rs DMs) since before i could tie a shoe. Matter a fact mom said i couldnt catch a ride one morning till i tied my own shoe thats a fact!

My grandfather said "If it wasnt a :mack1: it wasnt a truck"

The B model im restoring was my granfathers and im finacially in a position to start working on her, she's been in a fence row for 10+ years and needed drug out, Dad asked me "what i want with that thing" i said "i needed a project" and i have a passion for old iron! My mechanic gotter runnin in less than 30 min we replaced the pods and some lines new fluids etc etc so now the bodys ready to come off. (you're updated) :thumb:

    Thanks again for the welcome,

    Shawn

  7. Look on the right frame rail behind the spring perch for the actual serial number of the truck.  That will give you a heads up on what it was.  The door tag could have been switched over the years(like mine was).

Send it off to Mack and they give you the complete build sheet and history behind your truck.  Yup, a small donation helps keep the service alive.

Thanks for the help. i'll get started tomorrow. :thumb:

  8. Hey fellas, i need help to I.D. what ive got on my hands. I'll give you the info i have and maybe you can tell me what to look for from there...

I think its ayear model '63 10spd non turbo single axel tractor that was lengthned into a dump truck, twin steal tanks, best i can tell has an oversized radiator and never have seeen another one like it. BTW it a B61....i think <_<

  9. Just got a new (old) toy and thought i would try to educate myself on the net and meet some people, make some friends and maybe learn some things about my antique. So Howdy! my name is Shawn, im from East Tennessee and im addicted to trucks. :thumb:
