  1. A good Mack shop can get the job done with new H-rings in about 1 1/2 days and save you some down time and headache. Also it would then have a warranty. Also i recommend replacing all lifters and EUP rollers and replacing the oil pump. You may want to have a couple of rod and main bearings checked to be on the safe side. And if a lot of metal is found in the oil pan you may want to replace the oil cooler. This is what I recommend at our shop.

    your shop can R&R a cam,h rings,reinstall head,front timing gear cover,radiator and cooler in 12 hrs?
  2. vision with E7 460.140k on it,water temp running about 180 to 200 deg but oil temp running around 220 and on long pulls it will go to 235.When oil gets up in temp engine brake cuts out below 1500rpm works fine when oil temp is same as water.truck is serviced on regular intervals and is in showroom condition in and out.owner operator.Wondering if there was a fix for this condition.

  3. hey my 2000 RB(005519) got hot today and shut down twice! 460 etech/eaton 18spd. tranny temp all day was 200+, idle temp was 190/200+, boost was good 34/35 psi, jake boost psi was down from 20/22 to around 10/12psi. new rad and coolent, oil cooler last year, done bubble test for head gasket/heads, new therstat and rad cap. viscus fan works good. the truck has always over heated. a few months ago the unloaders stuck in the comp. they were gummed up with poop! it builds air ok, but could it be super heating the coolent? it seems to have good flow, is there any way to check the air compressor?(its plumped properly) there does seem to be more oil in wet tank lately. water pump doesnt leak. i dont mind changing the compressor and or water pump, but times have been lean since us steel moved in to canada, by locking the employees out at the mills they bought! any thought??? bobo

    Pull the charge air cooler.The front of the radiator mostly the middle will be plugged.Had a couple of customers with same problem,they tried t-stats,fan hubs,etc......

  4. yes sorry for getting back so late.Truck is like a homing pigeon just keeps coming back for different things.Found the turbine to snap off the shaft blocking the exhaust.Strange that the compressor side felt normal,[no play,and spun freely]Couldn't even pull the shaft for excess end play.Now i'll check both sides on the turbo next time just for this reason.It was a reman turbo right from mack only lasted 8 hours.The dealer said he had a bunch back for the same reason including volvos.One of the new uni pumps started leaking at the flare where injector lines seal.Tried a nother new line and 2 old ones still spraying had to replaced uni pump with another.It would have to be #6.At least the customer was understanding and knew it wasn't due to the service just faulty parts.

Just got done rebuilding 427 ai out of frame.Ran great now after 2 days of running all of sudden no power and once you get above 1400 rpm no load starts missing and blowing white and tan smoke.Idles perfect and up until 1400 runs and sounds good no load.Replaced all six injectors #6 was soaked others were ok but still changed them.Still same problem.Changed uni pump on #6 still the same.Checked fuel pressure at fuel temp port.Between 60 and 70 psi through out the entire rpm range even while missing.Replaced fuel line from tank to primary filter.Checked fuel regulator coming out of block.Brand new turbo also on engine.Checked inter cooler for leaks.Under load hs zero power and pouring out black smoke and missing bad.Almost like like computer isn't adjusting for uni pump timing through the rpm range.Help!!!!!!!!!

  6. this state is out of control.Now they want all shops to buy new smoke test equipment and it has to be bought from the state.And the company that is supplying the equipment to the state to sell is also the idiots that made all the dynos that had to be installed in every garage in order to do state inspections but failed to realize after every garage had to take a second mortgage to have them installed that they couldn't be used on all wheel drives.Whos pockets are getting lined.

Customer has a 2001 460 with 68,000 original miles {checked computer for accuracy}Engine oil temp goes up to 230 degrees on uphill climbs.Also when it gets hot oil pressure at idle goes down to 15 psi.Oil pressure goes up to 55 at 1200 rpms and at idle 23psi then once it gets hot it goes down to 15 psi.Water temp running normal 180-200 cycling with fan.Verified oil pressure through the computer and a positive gauge at the filter housing.Any suggestions would be appriciated.

  8. I have a customer with a T2110B [11 speed]started popping out of 4th and 5th now its popping out of 1 through 5 only on the low side.It doesn't pop out of any gear on the high side.Any suggestions would be appreciated thanks.
