What causes it? Just something i noticed. 5 Speeds, 6 Speeds, 12 Speeds is what i noticed have that same sound, But the T2000 Series to NOT have that sound. The TRXL series seem to have a "gear whine" to them. Even the airshifted models have that same sound. There is also a noticeable loud fan sound kicking in at 4th gear. Anyone knows what causes it as opposed to the T2000 series? I would assume straight cut gears... Also, I would like to know if the Overdrive TRXL1070 has more of a "gear whine" than the TRXL107. Lookup "Appalacianrust" and his 1980 Mack R model hay hauler. That has the same noise im talking about. Heres an example, (by no means promoting his content, if thats against the rules, just a genuine question)

The Truck was a B Model by General Split Corp in Milwaukee, WI. The Sleeper is noticeably shorter than other brands, sitting right at the height of the cab, Also has a painted square shaped vent. Unsure of the brand of this sleeper. Photos were taken in the 60s, I would assume its a factory option. Interested in one of this brand with the same dimensions. Can someone point me in the right direction? Maybe its possible someone here owns one of these B models from the former General Split Fleet? Thanks, B.

AFAIK Duplex Triplex Quadruplex 6 Speed (Twin & Air) (X107/X1070) (X107A/X1070A) 5 Speed (Single Stick) 7 Speed (T2070) 8 Speed (T2080) 9 Speed (T2090) 10 Speed (T310) 12 Speed (TRTXL107 / T1070B) This is my knowledge after months of research.. for transmissions from the B model era to the Mack RD era.

I think theres a total of 2 Versions of the 6 Speed, Airshift & Twin Stick. They were TRXL/TRDL/TRDXL/TRD/TRL stamped X107A Or X1070A for "Air" shift models. Same with the 5 Speeds, Same X & T models. I think 12 speed was a modified airshift 6 speed to include 12 forward gears with a granny. I say that because of the "Gear whine". I drove 6 speeds airshift and twin stick, along with the 12 speed. they all had the same gear whine and a engine fan kicking sound on 4th gear.

Coming back to this, Do you happen to have any facebook or contact info for the B model owner Randall? Id love to come visit up his way and see his truck, Im in the Gwinnett County Area towards Duluth.

I Seen that truck on Logan Lucky movie recently, i saw it online a few times. Thats cool! im glad to see he still owns the b73 still with the "L" model cab!

Im noticing a need for shift pattern stickers. So im gonna try printing some out for people and sell it on ebay. So what is every transmission (not eaton/allison, MACK only) offered in the 50s - 1990? Thanks.
