Importing Mack Truck from Canada
Mack Snow Fighter replied to Mack Snow Fighter's question in Mack Truck Q & A
I'll get photos to you when I get the truck! Still working through the paper work. Iron planet didn't even give me the tiltle yet after 3 weeks, and Customs says I might need the title to get through the border, They said its up to the officer on duty to decide if I have enough proof of ownership when I get to the border. Sounds a little sketchy to try it without. -
Mack Transmission stuck in third gear
Mack Snow Fighter replied to Mack Snow Fighter's topic in Engine and Transmission
Just notices now I got a message from down under, that's pretty cool and I guess you got Mack trucks there too. This just happened again, this time on the job. Never happens when I drive it, but guess who drives it the most! Now we know what we have to do when it happens, just pull the 4 bolts of the shifter housing off, pull the think up and put it back in correctly. Good point about the RTV. Mack has good stuff they call Silastic, never had anything better. I had a Mack box out once to do the synchronizers on the splitter. Not too bad of a job, but had trouble getting it back together till I figured out what I was doing wrong with the splitter. -

Importing Mack Truck from Canada
Mack Snow Fighter replied to Mack Snow Fighter's question in Mack Truck Q & A
If you could supply me with his email I would greatly appreciate it. By the way I'm finding it should be easy to import a Mack truck back to the USA, provided I can get a letter from the manufacturer. Trucks bearing the CMVSS sticker are allowed to be imported. The Canadian trucks bear a CMVSS sticker instead of FMVSS. The two standard are almost identical except some dash lights, speedometer, and tires and rims have the Maple Leaf instead of DOT. All of these differences are allowed. The manufacturer just needs to state what the differences are. And of course the all important engine label, which my dealer is able to get a replacement. Thanks for your help. -

Thank you, I appreciate it ! -
Hello friends, I want to bring in a 2005 Mack CV713 truck from Canada equipped with a snow plow and wing. Trying to work with my local dealer to get a letter from Mack stating that it meets the US safety requirements. So far no luck, my dealer says no response from Mack, but they are trying again. Any shortcuts, number I can call directly to Mack for someone to help me? Anyone here with experience doing this? The truck is in Quebec about 7 hours north, and I plan to drive it across the border. My dealer is getting me a replacement engine label, and it should say it conforms to EPA, so I think I'm good on that, just need the letter regarding the safety information. Thanks for your help

I am looking to buy a 2005 Mack CV713 from Canada, but it is missing the engine emissions label. Can I get a replacement label from a Mack dealer? Any advice you have on importing? I would drive it from Quebec to Maine. Thanks for your input!

Mack Transmission stuck in third gear

Well that's very good to know. I better do it sooner rather than later, or I'll again be driving the last couple miles home at 12 mph LOL! -
Mack Transmission stuck in third gear
Mack Snow Fighter replied to Mack Snow Fighter's topic in Engine and Transmission
I didn't notice that they were, but I was taking a good look at the forks and the clutches, and not sure if I got a good look. My son who drives it as much as I, says he revved it pretty high coming down a hill when he downshifted, then when it was stuck, it was almost like it was jammed in the wrong gear, in other words it was in third gear, but he wanted first gear. The thought of a worn shifter paw crossed my mind. That wouldn't be hard to change out. Can't get the cover off with transmission in the truck, unless I cut some of the floor out. Thanks for the model on the trans. Looked it up, and yup, that's the one. -

Thank you gentlemen for your reply's. We were able to remove the cover only partially, since the transmission is still in the truck. Looked inside and all seems well with the transmission, clutches slide back and forth fine. Put cover back on, added a quart of oil, drove on the road, and she's fine like nothing happened. -

Removed the cab floor, and all the bolts on the big cover. Cover seems somewhat stuck. Looks like we might have to drop the trans in order to pull the cab floor. Not enough clearance. -
Mack Transmission stuck in third gear

Its a Mack 9 Speed, Haven't found a plate on it yet. -
Hello, While driving today, suddenly the 1996 Mack RD688S would not come out of third gear. The shifter is stuck there. Any ideas what went wrong?
-
Hello, On my 1996 RD-688S, The turn signal switch came apart and fried some wires. So I installed a brand new switch, but it must have blown the fuse. Can someone help me with a fuse diagram for that truck? It has mostly circuit breakers installed instead of fuses. All the actual fuses are good, could it have fried a circuit breaker when it shorted? Thanks for your help

Fuel leak on EM7 Engine

I'm actually out of town now. When I get back I'll pull the line out completely and take a look, I can get pictures then. Maybe we are over tightening that line, resulting in damage. -
Fuel leak on EM7 Engine
Mack Snow Fighter replied to Mack Snow Fighter's topic in Engine and Transmission
Hmmm, so now I'm wondering, did they update the lines or something, because the other cylinders that I never replaced have a two piece set up, in other words, you can disconnect the line right at the head, whereas, the line I have in the #1 cylinder the nut is attached to a tube that goes all the way in to the injector, whereas the older ones there is like a 6 inch or so tube that goes in the head to the injector, and a separate line that attaches to that. Hope I am making sense. -

The new line is genuine Mack. I think if I had another injector in and tube in hand, I could understand what you are talking about. Why do they make the #1 cylinder different from all the rest? -
Hello, On my 95 mack with the EM7 engine, I have a fuel leak right where the injector line screws into the head. Its the #1 cylinder, closest to the front. This one has a different style tube from the others for some reason, and it has been a problem over the years. A couple years ago, I had a leak there after removing an injector, so I replaced the line and it solved the problem. Now its begun to leak slightly. I tried re-sealing the injector, but it still leaks. Any suggestions? Thanks a lot for your help.

2007 Mack CV713, AMI 370 engine, unit pump came off
Mack Snow Fighter replied to Mack Snow Fighter's question in Mack Truck Q & A
Got the E.U.P. back on and truck is running fine. Ordered 10 more bolts to do the rest. Correction: The engine is an AMI-335. Going to send the truck to the dealer to delete the idle auto shut down, and they think they might be able to give it more power via flashing the computer. I read completely through the post on how to get more power from these engines. Thought I might as well start with the computer. We have hills here in Maine and seem to never have enough power when plowing snow. We usually run a 6 wheel truck, same engine, on the steeper hills, because it has less dead weight. My 96 mack with the EM7-300 has more guts than the AMI ! I think I know what I need for the turbo, 5 in. exhaust, and injectors, only thing I'm not sure on is the manifold. Will an exhaust manifold from an e7 engine fit? You guys have been awesome. Thanks a lot for the help. -

Its a 1995 engine, I think the Jake adjustment might be on the valve cover, I don't know what jake, I suppose I would need to pull valve cover to tell? -

It is a jake, so the slave piston setting is 15 thousands, and just a regular feeler guage gage will do?
