  1. The Mack came to me from Kentucky out of South Carolina. It was owned by Lockheed Martin and was on an Airforce base as a refueling truck. It is pretty solid and will require only minimal body work before being repainted. I will pipe the exhaust out the back. The previous owner planned on making it a dump truck. Some ware along the way it lost it's tandem axle and became a single axle. I will get a fifth wheel for it and a small lowboy trailer and it will be our show truck.
  2. Hi Bob, you got that right. It must be that we have the time and resources to do these things at last. My wife bought the '73 Mack for my 73rd. birthday! I drove a '66 R lowboy for 10 yrs. for a big road builder back when I was a young man. Farmed and had an excavating company and now semi-retired. Enjoying it all!!
  3. Well, the restoration is steaming along. Here are some new pictures of the progress to date. Not in the correct order.....Frank
  4. Thanks, Bob & Paul. Now I feel much relieved and can go forward with my project! I'm rebuilding the Evans heater box, have the doors off, and all the lights and hardware off. The radiator has been record. Things are rolling along.
  5. This is the fan that came on the truck. Does this look like the fan that belongs on this truck? The 2 fan blades on the bottom are very close together. Thanks.....Frank
  6. Hi guys, mine is a Maxidyne. I've seen alpine green, an early Chrysler blue, and the gold. I would like to keep it like it was originally. Nice looking engine Larry! Thanks for sharing the pictures.
  7. Hi forum members, as I continue to do the restoration on my 73 Mack R model, I am nearing the point of repainting the engine. I'm looking for some guidance on engine paint color as it would have been originally. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Frank
  8. Good morning, they both have a steel dash. I have the measurements for mine. I will double check the doner. Price is right they are scraping the doner so there should be other parts I can use. This is going to be a fun project! Thanks for all the help!
  9. I need to measure for the plus three. That should be from front to back? I have to do a takeout on the '67R before I buy it. Thanks for the info! Helps a lot.....Frank
  10. Thanks Bob! I thought it would but wanted to confirm.
  11. Good afternoon forum members, this is my first post. I am in the process of restoring a 1973 Mack R 685ST model. It has no headliner. Can someone tell me if a fiberglass headliner out of a 1967 Mack R607 would fit? Thanks.
