  3. Good morning forum members. I need to do a tune up on my B20 Magnadyne gas engine. What are the recommendations for parts, spark plug gaps and point gaps? Also oil and trans fluid and rear end fluid. My plan is to get it running so I can get it in and out of the shop with no problems and while at it feel confident it is ready to run. Thanks.....Frank

  8. Hi Bob, I got one from a Mack fire truck at a salvage yard. It really makes a great sounding horn! My copilot (she's in the pictures with the red Mack tee shirt) says you can hear it in the next county!
  9. Hi Bob, thank you, hope all is well with you. You have to start with a vision and yes, it has come a long way since the beginning. It does drive very nice and smooth. The lowboy trailer is a '99 Talbert, I tore off the old deck, repaired anything that needed it. Sand blasted, primed and painted it and redecked it with 2" oak, then stained the new boards. I still have work to do on the Mack. It takes time but for now I can drive it and have fun!
  10. I took the Mack out for a Sunday drive today. It was a beautiful day in northern WI.
  11. Hello Forum members! I have some updates on my 1973 Mack R model, restoration I would like to share with you. I am working on the trailer air lines and electric. The door, bumper & some of the pinstripes are on. More pinstriping to follow. I sent the hood grab handle out to be chromed. Hope you all have a great Memorial Day weekend! Best Regards.....Frank
  12. Hi BOBWhite, for now I'm going to keep those Dayton type. They will get sand blasted and painted white with chrome stemco seals.
  13. It's been a while since I posted some pics of my restoration, but I have some progress to share. I completely rewired the lights. The doors are just hanging in place for now. the windows are in with new gaskets. The wipers are on. Some of the new chrome is on. I need to buff more of the paint and put lights on the back. The lowboy trailer is also done. Happy New Year to all! .....Frank

  16. Maxidyne engine, Maxitoque (T2050) 5 speed transmission.
  17. Hi Paul in Australia, I will go with an oak deck on the lowboy. 2 1/4 in. on the main deck and ramps, 1 in. on the top. Paul in PA, I used Dupli-Color engine enamel in gold for the Maxidyne. Thank you both for the positive comments!
  18. I want to thank all the forum members for their continued support in my restoration. Your comments are appreciated!! Here is an update as of today. The Mack is getting ready for paint, the trailer is coming along, it is going to be a nice set up when done. It will remind me of the old days when I drove a winch Mack/Hyster lowboy for a living.
  19. I bought the truck from a man in Kentucky. It came from an Air Force base in S.C.. It was used by Lockheed/Martin as a refueller. The man I bought it from was going to make it a dump truck. I plan on making it back into a tractor and pull a lowboy with it. It is going to be my show truck. Somewhere along the way it was cut down to a single axle. The rear end and rear cross member have been changed.
  20. Hi Bob, the interior is alpine green. I think the photos make it look blue. I'll get some better pics of it. Thanks for the positive comments! Best Regards.....Frank
  21. Hi Doubleclutch, I drove a lowboy when I was a young man. All our trucks were yellow on green. I like your pic, but I am going to stick with yellow on green.
  22. Hi Vlad, yes I agree! It will have some green pinstripes and some gold leaf on the bumper plate!
  23. Hello forum members, I know it's been a while since I posted an update. I have been working on the Mack. Please let me know what you think. Best Regards, Frank
