    LO gear in the Auxiliary box is just for 1st gear in the main box starting heavy or off road just split 1st gear done then you have 5 reverse gears

    In the past, with my triplex, I'll dowshift the compound to Under, as I run out of speed, I'll upshift the compound to Direct, then downshift the main. Then if that runs out too quick, you can at least drop one more in the compound quickly. That's the "fun" of two sticks LOL!! ya, right.

    Just yesterday for the first time in 5 yrs I got both sticks in Neutral and couldn't for the life of me get one back in. All the trying in the world left me powerless. I finally gave up and pulled over(lucky no traffic and 4 lane road). The few times I've done this I have always got one back in and continued, but for some reason I was just off enough to not catch it. I had just about stopped for a red light when it changed, and had already pulled the compound out to downshift and I popped the main out too....oops! Rollin along with no gears at home LOL! I was only running maybe 20 mph.

    Looking at the photos it is about as original as you are going to fine and is not rusted or dented to hell. Being new to old Macks i hope you have a lot of hands on mechanical experience, aware that everything is big and heavy. and have a very large bank account to get a restoration to the finish line.

    It is definitely a low production B with the Cunnings, 3 stick and has been sitting for year. It will not be going anywhere fast if the price is $25K. Before you go Mack crazy and buy it contact Dan Thomas (Mackdaddy) in Oregon he has and knows of a lot of trucks worth something in that area. His restored trucks are second to none, he may even have what you are looking for, super nice guy. I know he had a 3 stick LT with a 275 Cummins, in restoration, that he was selling awhile back. 

    Just a side note, It is cool to have a lot of gears but after the novelty of driving it and shifting every 10 seconds wears off you will be driving it with the Duplex ad shifting the Brownie from direct to high for the second overdrive only.  There are no synchro's in any of these trans and it takes a lot of practice to fell the gears in and not blow a shift and grind. Get two sticks in natural at the same time, pull over to a Complete STOP and start over:rolleyes:

I was told by Manders it had 285hp which would be the ENDT 676. After getting the truck home and power washing the motor block off I discovered it was the 235HP motor (not to happy about it) at the time I did not know to look for the aftercooler and twin pipes to the intake or that DM685 stood for the 235hp motor and DM686 stood for the 285HP motor, I DO NOW THOUGH! I was just going off what the salesman's was telling me! This DM will be replacing our current 1994 RD690s which has 300 HP. The original plan for the DM with "285hp" thought I was getting was to add a bigger fuel pump and make it have 350HP so more then the current RD and then restore the old DM. The DM at least needs 285HP as it will be pulling a 200 series hoe from jobsite to jobsite until we get a lowboy setup. So my questions are now...

    1. Can the ENDT 675 handle 350Hp?

    2. Where do I find a stock or aftermarket aftercooler?

    3. Where do I find a twin tubed cold air intake?

    4. Is this motor a 2 valve or 4 valve? which is considered better?

    5. Should I sell this truck and try to find a DM686 with ENDT 676 motor?

    6. is this the Ecodyne or Maxidyne motor? Which is considered better?

    7. How would a ENDT 675 Pair with a 18 speed tranny? over kill is fine 😜

    Other plans for the truck paint it black, covert the bud rims to Hub piloted with Alco or ATX 24" rims. put in 4.17 rears or maybe go 3.94 rears or whatever Mack excepts after 4.17. air to pintle hitch. Hush mats and a better AC system (Any ideas???) remove the pusher axle (better off-road capabilities). Remove all old lights and convert to all LED. get rid of the 20" steering wheel for 16" or 18". Someday a smooth sided box for bigger logo placement with multi functional gate. Also toying with the idea of putting an 18 speed tranny in. I want the low end for hauling equipment and offroad but at least a truck that can do 75mph/ 80mph and not be revved out the entire time.

     

    Ultimately  this is just a project truck for me, something old and cool to fix up that will be fun to drive, and will be put to work here and there as needed.

    Nice looking DM you can turn up that 237 to 300 if the engine is in good shape do not go to 350 HP  and replace the gear box which is probably a 6spd mud stick with a Mack 12 spd very good trans low end off road grunt and higher highway speeds  good luck

    And you won’t neither nothing new is gonna pull like those old RD 800 tin nose Mack’s take the egr,def,computers, auto gear boxes and they can stick them where the sun don’t shine all junk!!!!! I drove the RD 882 in a roll off truck DM 600&800  tin nose and fiberglass hoods in tandem dumps and mixer trucks R model tandem dumps I love old school Bulldog Mack’s

    There is poly reunion bushings along with rubber and rubber encased steel trunnion bushings did the rubber encased steel bushings on my friends 88 R model tandem dump I helped him do it I thought there is only bronze there is all different material
