I can't comment on a 90MPH road speed as it is asking/begging for problems and someone, or something to get hurt. 75MPH in a medium duty chassis on smooth interstate is plenty fast and easily attainable. The 1999 4900 Lo-Pro truck I purchased new was 240hp, Spicer 6+1 trans and I cannot remember the rear ratio. It would run about 77MPH fully loaded with four cars on the bed and stinger consistently on flat pavement. The truck was comfortable too with rear air suspension and air driver's seat.

Wish i have cough this sooner. 22.5 tires from respectable manufacturers are rated for 75MPH max. Other sizes are only rated for 65MPH.

Anywhere over/above 220hp and those trucks perform well with a DT-466 engine. They also do pretty well on economy too.

Ok so if i find something with say 250hp DT466. Do you think it will run ok with direct drive Spicer Or 9 speed fuller 2.79 rear ratio with 11R22.5 that gets 90 at 2k rpm

Like i said everything here is completely flat. The only hill here in the landfill

  3. Hey everyone

So i have been wanting an international 4700/4900 crewcab to make it into a pickup truck since i discover those things existed.

Research shows people complain those thing are very slow. My idea was to find one with a blown motor and swap the engine for something like Cummins BigCam 3 or even better a Mack E6 Or E7 with a T2070 or TRTXL1070B and a supper tall rear end like 2.47 or 2.28

Would something like that work? Or is it just another stupid ideas of mine?

I only need this to tow my 20ft landscape trailer on flat land everyday.
