I filled up for $3.89 a gallon yesterday morning, by noon it was at $4.09.

Pretty sure you can still get it from Mack, I just got one for my 72 R-700.

A strap on my R model broke a few months ago, so I ordered a new fuel tank strap. Thought it would come with the rubber gasket, but it did'nt. I went to Tractor Supply Company and bought 7 feet of hay bayler belting, and cut it to fit. Does'nt really look to bad, and it was only a couple of bucks.

I have 3 at present, a 68 u-series tandem dump, a 71 r-700 w/318 detroit tandem dump, and a 84 e-9 tractor. Now if I can find a nice single axle dump I'll be all set!

I think $25,000 would be on the low end of what that truck is worth. however, at an auction you never know. Would the township consider putting it on e-bay? You could list it, and put a reserve so as not to get burnt. Alot of government entities are selling vehicles on there now.

It sounds like a clutch head screw. Most bit sets have one in them, or can be bought at sears or most any hardware store with a gook tool selection. You may want to spray them with some penetrating oil before you attempt removing them. Good luck!

I have a 3208 in a ford single axle dump, and a 237 in my tandem axle. Definately go with a 237 mack. It feels like it has a hundred more horsepower than my 3208, and in reality it is only 25. No comparison whatsoever, and my 237 gets better mileage than than the cat also, even hauling 20,000#'s more per load!

I have a 68 U tandem axle dump with the 237 & 5 speed. I've had 20 tons on it, and regulary carry 15 tons up some faily steep hills without any problems. You sure won't be the fastest truck on the road, but you'll get there.

Go to your local auto-body supply company. There are several sizes of riv-nuts available, and they work very well, as well as other types of fasteners that may work. Explain what your doing, and they should be able to fix you up. Good luck!

They come as a set, 2 doors, and the ignition, and were still available from Mack as of last fall when I got a set. I thought the price was great, I think less than $30 for the set. As far as installation, it's about a 10 minute job, and does'nt require taking the door apart. A compression clip holds the lock in against the door skin. Pull it out, the lock assy will slide out, put in the new lock and reinstall the clip. My truck is a 68, but I believe they used the same setup for alot of years. Good luck.
