Need help with 63 b61st. I would like to replace the wedge brakes with Scam style what parts must be swapped. Looks like mounting the new brake chambers will be tricky. Any advice will be much appricated.

I do not know how far you want to go but there is a really nice single axle b61 north of houstan TX used to move houses

several shots of marvil mystery oil in each cylinder then air let sit a day or two then repeat. I have freed several this way. good luck

As for the Quad being better then Duplex? Not sure you'll notice unless you put some load on it as you only gain a few extra gears(besides the Lo/lo holes which are only good for slow movement).
I mostly haul a 35k trackloader. A short road test today seems good to the hisplit in third maby the sun will shine tomorrow so I ca swap some tires around ad try all the gears

I am putting my recently purchased B61 together and am almost ready for the first road test. My question is on the transmisson, the shift pattern tag saya it is a 14 speed with direct iin 4th and not to use compound direct in 5th the 4speed box has lolo, losplit, direct,and hi split. what is compound direct and wy not use it. I would also like to thank freightrain for his reply to my last post sorry it took so long.

Advice is normaly worth what you pay for it, and this may be the same because every truck is different. My 58 B61t is a 673 duplex I start in 1st lo then 1st hi then pull the aux box to neutral and then pull the mann to2nd then the aux to lo. this works until 4th then I leave the aux in hi mainto 5th aux to lo then to hi. mine is not od. To down shift I must drop the aux to lo then back to hi then drop the main a gear and so on. When pulling a load up a steep grade I normaly leave the aux in lo and downshift only the main box. Hope this will help a little.
