  1. May need a turbo but not sure, looking around the internet, I don't know what part# my turbo is. 95 E7 350. The ones I have seen have a flange on the outlet going into charge air cooler, mines straight pipe rubber hose slips over.cant find a # , just says Mack on it.

  2. Blew a manifold gasket last week, ran until Friday evening, tore it apart this weekend got it back together and running, was letting it idle and checking injectors for leaks and heard a quick "clunk" almost sounded like something went through the engine! I test drove it and when under hard boost turbo makes a little bit of a squeel , so now I'm starting to wonder if something fell into the manifold I didn't know about and went through the turbo. I wonder if so how long will it hold together? I don't see how a bolt or tap could have gotten in there without me knowing, of course I was in a hurry trying to get it back together.

  3. I know this isn't really Mack related, but was wondering about this engine. We have 2 CH Macks 95 and 96, I posted earlier about the rust issues I'm having, anyways we bought these trucks from a local fleet that always ran Macks since the 40s' , in mid 2000s they started having a lot of problems with Mack emission engines. They then quit Mack in 06 and have went to Freightshaker unfortunately, I called them to see if they had any used Macks left for sale sitting in the bushes somewhere but they said no more Macks left, but they have some 07 CL 112 Freightliners with MBE 4000 engine in them, the trucks are lightweight small sleepers like our Macks and reasonably priced, but wondered about that engine, and I bet a lot harder to work on than our Macks. Would a Mack engine of the same year be as dependable? Is the Mercedes better on fuel than Mack? We are getting mid 6s with the old E7 350s pulling flatbeds , about 60 mph. Im trying to be a die-hard Mack man but options are limited as well as dealers, we have one fair dealer that doesn't mind helping trying to keep them running.

  4. Yeah, I guess sometimes you can only go so long, hopefully most parts will still be available for the CH for a while but who knows. I farm and truck on the side so truck doesn't get a lot of miles, that makes it harder for me to justify a very big purchase on a truck, even if it does get better fuel economy. Radiator is leaking , dumped some stop leak in it , too busy to shut down now , gonna keep going for now, blown exhaust manifold sounds terrible.

  5. Talking to Mack (parts dealer and service shop) he said to keep my 95' even though it's at the point of needing major service. He said the emission engines suck, the main thing they work on is emission related, my concern is the underside of my truck is rotting away, cab support beams, he looked them up and they're $2750 a piece, (2 of them) I almost fell over, probably needs another 7 to 8 grand on top of that, but he said I'm money ahead, I just know these old trucks can really start nickel and dime, blew a manifold gasket today, anyone have some opinions???

  6. I cut mine open and it was full of black tar like stuff, kinda smelled like burnt oil, this was my dads old truck , its sit for 6 years since its been in service, and he wasn't great on oil changes. I sold my KW and have got about 4k in parts on this truck so far , almost ready to go, I think...

  7. Just wondering about the centrimax filter on my Mack, how exactly does it work? Are they a good setup? Haven't seen them on other engines, was told they're supposed to remove soot, I also heard gulf coast filters got their idea from Mack filters?

  8. It seems nobody knows much about how to tune a Mack to make it run good, I've been considering a 95 CH 613 with E7 350 v Mac. Everyone seems clueless about these engines, I called Pittsburgh power, and they won't even work on a mack, they said they nothing about them. I talked to a Mack and Cat dealer, they couldn't tell me much about mack, just (they're ok) . It seems this truck would make a good local truck pulling a flat, Its a lightweight truck with a pre emmision 728 cu in engine, seems it should compete with any truck of its day as far as fuel economy, if tuned good and running properly, but everyone seems to laugh when I say mack!

  9. Was looking at a 95' 613 with an E7 350 in it. Truck has 22.5s 9 SPD tranny mack 4.17 rears, will be pulling flats are these trucks capable of 7 to 7.5 mpg? Will be second truck, have a t600 with C 15 accert , gets mid to upper 6s. I had a mack just like it some years back , think I was getting mid 6s?, it was kinda weak though.tired of emmision engines, like how simple old mack is , run pretty local anyways.
