  1. If it has the 2 speed air fan it does stay on but not at full speed until signaled to engage. This design saves the fan clutch from burning out quickly. Did the dealer turn up the idle speed?

Dealer did not turned up the idle since there was no code, I am thinking that they should able to tell me the fan is normal for the model, after all they had all the info and vin # etc . Instead they change the solenoid with new one .my old one was working just the way new one did ????? It is all about taking advantage from the owner of the truck.

  2. Today I went to Mack dealer,

They hooked up to computer,no codes still running rough, change the solenoid for fan, did not stop the fan after $ 396.00 they told me it may have some air in the fuel system ,drive it few days and see what it does? Also they told me that my fan, designed to run all the time no free spool!!! why they did not tell me that before changing my solenoid?

Does anybody have 375AI engine in granite to see if the fan stays all the time? Thanks

  3. Sounds like the idle was turned down by the cruise control switches inadvertently. The dealer can set the idle and then go into customer parameters and turn off the adjust low idle with crusie switches. I see this alot.

forget the point out that, Fan stays on all the time and there is no switch on the dash to over ride????

  4. HEY friends,

I took in my truck to Mack dealer for PM, before the PM it was Idling fine after PM It is Idling really rough and not more than 500RPM.

under load it runs fine. Before I left the dealer I didn't realize the problem. Any help? Thanks

Also fan stays on all the time,no fan switch on the dash?????

  5. Hey you all ,

I made it home safely, after close inspection (as above mentioned by you all) I am not satisfied, brakes are all needs real attention, AC belt needs to be change .I will do both.

Total grease job and fluid, filter change in order. other than that I am happy sailor.

I DO HAVE ONE QUESTION, there is a regular gate valve (like you will have in your house plumbing) above the rear valve cover looks like part of heat system.. ANY IDEA what this is or just first owner installed it for some reason?

    Thanks

  6. Hey friends,

I just picked up my truck 2005 granite dump from Oak City ,WI and I am on my way back to NC.

Everything checked out good ,it drives very good (with out any load)will see ,ones I load.

There is a Indication lite come on the dash, inside of the info center, it looks like a Lightining bolt or look like Z any Idea what it is?

Should I be worry? Thanks again.

  7. I just bought an 05 granite with a pony axle, 460 hp, 18 spd, with 200,000 miles and I paid 85,000. I probably paid a little too much because I wanted an 18 sp. there was one in Charlotte on truck paper that I think was an automatic. Also I believe the Mack dealer in charleston, sc had a couple automatics come in on trade. Look up truck trader and you will get a feel for value. I looked for awhile and I think with the mileage you stated you would be 65,000-75,000. Although the I hear the automatic is the preferred trans and costs more

    Thank you Mackncheese.

I have been looking for the last 6weeks, I made my mind and today bought 2005 Granite Quad axle with Allison RDS4500 Paid $70000.00.Down from$76000.00 Flying to Wisconsin (after Christmas) to get it.
