Hi Guys,
Have two damaged head bolt threads in an E9 block. Just wondering if anyone has ever had to carry out a repair like this. Had our local engineer over yester day and tossing up wether to tap out threads to 11/16'' with the same pitch as the standard 5/8'' threads, or, is it possible to drill deeper into the block and extend the original size threads.
Thanks
Jeff

G'DAY EVERYONE, MATE OF MINE HAS AN E9 610 WITH THE ELECTRONIC INLINE INJECTOR PUMP IN HIS VALUELINER. DEPENDING ON WHAT MOOD THE TRUCK IS IN THE ENGINE IS HARD TO START DUE TO FUEL LEAK BACK SOME HOW. HAVE REPLACED THE RUBBER OLIVES ON THE CROSSOVER PIPES BETWEEN THE HEADS AND HAD THE LIFT PUMP OVERHAULED. TIME FRAME BETWEEN STARTING PROBLEM CAN BE ANYTHING FROM 3 HRS TO 12 HRS WHEN IT PLAYS UP. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED. BEING AIR START CAN BE A BIT OF A PAIN AT TIMES IF YOU DON'T GIVE THE HAND PRIMER A FEW PUMPS BEFORE STARTING.

G'day everyone, just wondering if anyone knows of a site similar to this one that deals with cummins problems. This is a great site, find it to be very helpful.

We had thought of that too Doug but was a bit concerned about the block thickness between the edge of the hole and the edge of the liner flange. But after talking to a few different engine guys we think we should be ok. Thanks for your input mate.
