  1. Of course when you come to a Mack forum, the answer will aways be "get the Mack"

However you need to consider how you intend to use the purchase. The transam will be better for going to the movies or grocery store.

And then there is fuel, tires, repairs and insurance to worry about for each of them......

Yeah i no i put a topic in BMT and a transam forum. I want to see who wins between both forums. then tally them up and i got my answer.

  3. :mack1: gentlemen, i'm thinking of purchasing a 1961 b 95 mack fire truck , open cab, the twin to the truck i chased on my stingray bike in my youth, been sitting for about 10 years, whats the chance this 707 gas motor is siezed ? if so can they be 'freed up' , i hear parts for this this model are impossible to find, 2500.oo asking price, body is solid , worth saving ?? thanks for your help

To me it sounds like a great deal. Yeah and amke sure that all fo the systems work of that fire truck. Good luck

  4. Ya, depending on what kind of mounting plate you have. If you only have side rails, it won't be bad. Mine has 3/4" plate that it's mounted too. Makes it really heavy! I did notice a ride difference after putting it back on!

Yeah mine is on a side rails. haha yeah i bet you noticed a ride difference when you put the 5th wheel back on. :P

  5. Well, I used my engine crane to pull it off. You can slide it around on the pavement, sorta, but not pick it up. They aren't light at all!

I've since put it back on truck and converted my trailer to pin style coupler.

Yeah i bet. I havent taken mine of the b model yet. Im going to soon. How much do those things weigh?

    Thanks

  6. Here are the pics to what I've done to mine.

    http://groups.msn.com/bigmacktrucks/larrysmack.msnw

Worked out pretty simple and much sturdier then originally. Looks pretty original after painting it black too(just missing the "ribs", but since I added 1x1 sq. tubing under floor, ribs weren't needed anyway.

Dude that look awsome. Spent over an hour looking at all of the pics. You got on nice rig. How heavy was that fifth wheel that you took off?

    Thanks for the help

  7. My Floor was junk, so i replaced all of it, its not to bad of a job just alot of time, i also put new cross supports in, i made a card board pattern of the floor before i started then just put it over a plate of steel to cut it out, be sure you put some kind of temporay braces in before you take the cross pieces out to keep the cab from springing one way or the other :mack1:

    Thanks for the help!!!

  8. Where are you located? And do you want a flat panel or a concave panel.

If you were in the east - I would try Kevin All at AllMacks.com. I know he has a great selection of both concave and flat panels.

Also you might try B61Fred here at BMT. He has several cabs with decent back panels in Indiana.

If you are more west - you could try Packer also here at BMT. Not sure what his inventory looks like - but he's fun to talk to anyway!

    Good Luck,

    Paul Van Scott

I live in Northern NJ. I know where oldmacks is located. I think it is located in Cario NY? I will send him a email and ask.

    Thanks for all the help!!!
