I will check that out, it just started on this job so it could be something as simple as that. I'm not usually that lucky for it to just be something simple but it's worth a look. I've spent a lot of money chasing problems in the past and found out it was just something simple. I used to have an old ford 9000 dump truck that was running like crap, man I'm glad its gone! I tested injectors, rebuilt the injection pump, removed the tank and had it steamed cleaned, blew out lines, changed 5 or 6 filters. I was at my wits end and finally had another guy look at it and it turned out the fuel filter base was plugged up. I spent $2000 working on the old truck and all it ended up being was a plugged up filter base. I took the filter base off and put it in the parts washer for 5 minutes and it ran like a brand new one afterward. Sometimes it is simple things

I'm pretty sure it has a 3066 engine, i just got it this summer so I don't know of any injector or pump work in the past. It is finishing a barn demo job today and when I get it home I was planning on trying to clean out the lines then have the injectors tested if that doesn't help. I may also drain the tank to make sure I have good clean fuel in it. I had a little issue with water in my storage tank a couple months ago, I have a 300 gal skid tank at my house and the sight gauge was cracked and let some water in. I thought I had run enough through but it may still be showing up. I have a deere dozer running the same fuel and it's not had any trouble. I have drained the water separator on the excavator a couple times and it did not show water but I'd rather drain the tank and start over to know its clean.

I have a 94' CAT 320 excavator with 6600 hrs. Here recently the engine has started to sputter when at full rpm and under load. It is smooth when running full rpm and just sitting or even a light load. When you are digging heavy and pulling in a full bucket it sound as if it bounces back and forth 100 rpm or so and puffs a little black smoke with every change in rpm. I have changed the fuel filter but no improvement. Does anybody have any ideas where I should check next? Thanks

13 speed triplex is kinda rare behind a cummins in my book.
When I was calling around getting parts a mack guy told me there were 538 made with this engine and trans combination. I don't know how many r700's were made but 538 doesn't sound like very many, he thought it was pretty rare.
I pulled the trigger on a lowboy today so I am going to have to move this truck, make me a serious offer

I am helping a friend of mine sell this. It is a 99' Deere 120 with right at 9000 hrs. New bottom rollers on one side, rest of u/c is fair, I'm not an expert so I don't want to throw out a percentage and misrepresent it. I think it still has a lot of hours before it needs any attention. The machine runs and operates like it should, some play in bucket pins and the stick cylinder is seeping. Just got through building a pond with it, it's not the prettiest to look at but will get the job done. Would make great start up or farm machine. Asking $19,500 obo. I am not 100% ready to sell this but thought I'd throw it up on here to see if anyone had any interest. It is a 1970 R737ST, serial # 1406. Has a NHC 250 Cummins, 422k miles, 13 speed Triplex twin stick transmission. Two pto's, one for single line wet kit, the other for a pto driven winch behind the cab. The truck has been parked in a barn since 1991, I got it out in July and got it going again, one picture still shows the inspection sticker from 1991. I put on new firestone steer tires, new wheel seals, radiator hoses, belts, converted to 12v starter, 3 new batteries, new battery cables, good brakes, all lights work. Interior is in excellent and cab has little to no rust. Steering is straight and true, will run 60 mph down the highway in a straight line with no hands on the wheel. Is a very clean solid old truck, I bought it with plans of working it to pull a lowboy but I have since found a 1990 mack ch613 and I'm going to use it. This truck would be great to fix up or could be put to work. I put an ad on CL but took it off because I kept getting phone calls from foreigners who wanted to export it. I don't wanna see this truck go that way, i like this old truck but I don't use it and hate to see it sit. I don't have to sell it but would like to get a better lowboy and dump trailer and could use the money for that. I might be interested in a trade toward a lowboy, dump trailer or other heavy equipment? Could put some extra money with it for the right trade. I was asking $10,000 obo or I would take the winch off and sell it for $9,000 without the winch. The truck is located in Orleans, IN 47452, about an hour north of Louisville, KY. Call - (812)844-1331. Also have a 91' Mack DM690S tri axle I might sell also, see last picture, it has been used as a site truck so it's a little rough around the edges but runs and dumps. To be honest I am not sure what the dm has? I am still new to this so I don't know what engine it has for sure, it's a mack engine and trans. There are 5 gears on the bottom side and then when I flip into high I went straight up and got one then went right back down and found a gear so I'm thinking a 7 spd but not sure? That's how I've been driving it anyway. It has got some trans issues, when you flip the switch from low to high or high to low it growls and takes a couple seconds but finally switches. Actually it's got a lot of issues, it was used as a site truck on a large pond building project for the past year and hasn't been on the road for over a year so a few things have been let go and need attention. It needs brakes, tires, lights, several air leaks fixed, and a few other small things to be DOT legal so it's a work in progress.

I don't have any plans set in stone yet. I hate to say but I actually thought about maybe selling the old mack to upgrade my lowboy but I hate to part with it. It's fun to have and drive around. I am trying to get my excavating business up and going and every dollar can go somewhere.

The 1970 is an R737ST serial number 1406. It has a NHC250 Cummins and a triplex 13 speed twin stick transmission, I'm still trying to learn how to drive it. I can get it from point a to b but I still need more practice on it. I attached a pic of the dot inspection sticker from 1991, it's been in a nice barn so the sun never faded it.

I am new to the site and new to Mack's but am learning a lot from reading through everybody's posts. I started out in June or July looking for a cheap old truck to pull a lowboy and haul my dozer. I called about an ad in the paper for an old mack sitting in a barn. I was not necessarily looking for a mack but I found a 1970 R700 that was parked in a barn since 1991. It needed a few things but was in great shape for the age. We actually pull started the old mack and I drove it home 30 miles that day. Then a month later I found a good buy on a 91' DM690S tri axle dump, and then I found another deal on a 90' CH613 with only 152k miles on it and it's going to be my new lowboy truck. So I'm going to have to slow down soon but I look forward to all the help and good advice on here.

I really need to move this truck, I hate to part with it but I have to. I have listed it locally and online but have got a dozen calls from people who cant speak English or even pronounce Mack right and then ask me if they can drive it to Florida or North Carolina. I am sick of these people calling, I really like this truck and hate to see it go that way. It would be a great project to finish restoring or to still work it some. I am ready to make a deal on it, so make me an offer, worst I can do is say no. I would rather lose a little money on it and see it stay here than get shipped overseas. Thanks
