  1. Sorry guys I've been away for a few days. Tsd had me bring my Dayton hubs and drum up there and they matched it with bearing application and measurement on the drum. They told me when I initially called them that 99 percent of trailers can be converted its just a matter of matching the right hub for your spindle. The ones I needed they had in stock. Tsd is transportation supply depot in Vandalia ohio. The parts guys there are real pros and go out of their way to help, I can't say enough about how good they are and their prices are usually cheaper than anyone in my area. I've just been covered up with work I will try posting those pics as soon as I can get a break.

  2. I'm thinking bout puttin the flat bar on there. I've had 2 different wheels do this. The 1 that did it the other day has done it twice. New spacer and wedges after the first time. I've painted marks on all of them and caught 1 slipping before it could do damage. It's just a very agrivating thing to have happen and can get costly if not close to home and have to call a service truck.

  3. If anyone knows of a place where I could buy trailer cutoffs in the Dayton, Cincinnati, Columbus area I love to know I've looked with no success. I'd like to find an air ride and put under the ol trailer the neway spring beam it has, I've been told, is getting difficult to find parts for. A Hendrickson turner ht setup would be just the ticket. Aw come on mowerman, when I started pullin a gravel bucket back in 93 we hauled 40 ton all day long lol. Just too many counties in this area with portable scales for revenue enhancement to do that now.

  4. I know this board is for trucks but maybe someone has advice. I have a summit dump trailer, 70s vintage, with Dayton wheels. The old trailer works around 50,000 miles a year, usually with limited problems, but lately I've had those Dayton wheels giving me fits.for the 3rd time in a panic stop situation, with an extremely large load on, it ha spun a set of wheels and wiped out both valve stems. I can't tell you how agrivating this is when it happens. Last week in the 90 degree heat trying to jack up a trailer with close to 35 ton on it (oops did I say that, I meant a 23 ton legal load) I jacked a 6x6 right through the blacktop in a parking lot. Anyway, everything looks ok on these Dayton's their wedges are not bottomed out, so why do they do it? I've put an inch impact on them and then a 6 foot cheater pipe, they're tight. Any words of wisdom? I'm ready to trade it off because of this.

  5. I just hope most parts are available. Having never owned one, I don't know what Mack's parts system is like. But hopefully with the amount of 30,40, and even 50 year old Mack's still out there doing combat, that won't be a problem.

  6. I like my ol Pete but I don't think there is a better looking truck than an old school superliner with nice paint and all the aluminum polished out. When I find one and start this project, I want to take my time and do a cab off restoration, that way i will be getting a "brand new" truck in a sence. One without computers, emission controls, and one I can work on without a laptop.

  7. I'm pretty sure the nicer 1 has square and the rougher 1 round but don't hold me to that. I talked to the original owner of the rougher one couple years back and I thought he said he bought it in 81, but I guess in the fall of 81 it could have been an 82 model. I'll be down that way later this week i will stop and find out if it is sitting there.

  8. There are a couple near me. One is immaculate with e-9 and the guy could ask any price and probably get it. The other is rough mechanically but has a good body. It also has an e-9 500 and the guy likes hauling his d-8 and track hoe with it so I haven't been able to convince him to sell it, I did get him to promise to sell me the sleeper if he daycabs it. I know that e-9 is a bad mother but I'm not sure about it for everyday pulling a dump trailer, parts, fuel, etc. I have a Pete but I don't have the Pete additiude a lot of guys have. :-)

  9. My name is Tom, and I drive a Pete daily but I've joined because my interest in western r models, especially rs700ls, and superliners. This winter I plan to begin searching for a superliner, hopefully with 60in able body co sleeper, to completely rebuild and use as a daily ride. I figured all of you may be able to help me find a suitable truck to start with, and find parts, as well as give helpful advice. Bear with me I'm sure i will have a lot of questions. I'm a good wrencher but my experience is with Pete's and kw's. I have just always loved superliners and have always wanted to own one. Thank you all in advance.
