The only model I know of that has a meaning to the model letters is the DM which is for Dump & Mixer (this is verified in John Montville's "Mack" book).
It is said that the "G" designation stands for Great Western, but that seems like something the marketing department may have dreamed up afterwards.
The Cab over models MR stand for Mack Refuse. The LE model stands for "low entry"

On the AB's and AC's the serial number is on the left front frame horn, top, not the side. Usually if you lightly sand that area is shows up fairly clear.
Thanks, I found it, but the last 3 digits are pretty worn and hard to make out.

As Mackboy said...contact the Museum. The number is in our featured links section.
Thanks, but I don't know the VIN. There is no title, and I couldn't find any kind of ID tag.

I was wondering if anyone could tell me where I could get info on the AB models. Also, are there any places that I could get parts for this model. I just picked up one and would like to see ig I could get it running, but it's missing a few vital parts.

Missing cab and I’m pretty sure the engine is not free.
