That is a sweet looking truck, reminds me of the ones we had.Didn't go very fast but you always got to where you going. It sounds like alot of money for a truck that you aren't going to work it,and after you get done making it into a show truck you will have well over $20,000 into to it,and when was the last time you saw a b61 go for that kind of money.I'm not saying that this truck is not worth the $11,000 maybe all of the other trucks that are out there for $5,000-$6,000 are only worth say 1,000-2,000. You have to keep in mind that we are restoring these truck not for profit but out of the love we have for these trucks. If I go and take my b87 down to the bare frame and make it like new,I can't even begin to think of what that would cost to have someone else do the work,it would be in the range of $80,000-$100,000 to do the truck.Keep in mind that my truck was road worthly.Just my 2 cent worth.Mike DurkinWe got about 30,000 into the truck on my profile, plus about 3 and a half months labour x 2. We picked up a solid, good running dump for $5 grand to start with! Some of the stuff I see out there, would realy up the costs. It was well worth the effort tho, turnes a lot of heads, and brings out the old stories and memories from a lot of folk!

Jim, I just found your post, what a sweet job you did! I wish I had found it sooner, my wife and I just did a 66, B 61. We were going to use the D 644, and Allison, but ended up keeping the 711 mack and marrying it to a Fuller 15 and 3:90 Rockewell. We used lots of Dynamat, in and out, but still have more noise than we wanted. You put some nice detailing into yours, you have to be proud of her.I would be interested in some numbers on speeds, rpm and fuell milage and power. We are on our maiden voyage, so just looking to find out if we would have been better off with the 644/Alison combo. We run 55 mph at 1500 rpm a little low for the Mack keeps it quieter tho! Well, good luck on the track! Wayne

Well, we finaly have her on the road! Still a few things to do, but her breakin trip to Arizona went well. Could have used a lower gear ratio, as she lopes along at 55 mph turning 1500. Here are some pics,

Well, I couldn't find studs. I did find a machine shop that would build them. Thanks again for the help!

I pulled the rear driveshaft on my B 61, locked the front diff, and drove it from Montana to the west coast. No problem. Should get you thru the season! Just remember that it will act like a tag without a lift! Traction will be poor, so if you are useng it in a field, you may get stuck easy!

Lookin great!

I have a pto, and the engine model # should be on the casting ahead of the injector pump.

Nice truck, looks like it shares some B modle stuff! Great rare catch!

Ok, a bit about our B 61. As I was told, the Mack was a State of Oregon truck. This spring, we bought it from a small farm in Montana, where it had been for the last ten years.I drove it home to Hope B.C., and started to strip it to the bones. My wife sandblasted the entire truck. I removed the dump, tandem rears and trannys. We are turning her into a single axel to haul our camper south in the winter. With the lo gearing she only made 45 mph, so longer legs were in order. We want to keep the END 711, cause it is the heart of this dog! Put in a fuller RTO 15 and 3:90 diff, with 1100 22.5"s. Should give us 100 KPH at 1500 RPM. We were lucky it has front brakes and power steering. A 14 ft flatdeck will hold the camper. Paint will be the new Mack engine red, with black fenders . With a little luck and a lot of work, we will take her south this fall!
