I rekon A $1.00/mile surcharge is in order... i just put 6 new tires on it, plus wear and tear,, I think that's fair... I would like some opinion's on my mileage charge.. my current engine job is a 50 mile round trip, $25.00 worth of fuel each day... Anything outside city was $2.50 a mile, plus labor. A minimum charge of 2hrs anywhere you went. There’s no telling what they charge today. I do some work now (very little) and add for mileage, I’ve been just doubling fuel cost (guessing). I’m not in business like you. I try to be fair to them & myself. It's getting expensive. My truck is measured in gallons per mile. I won't send someone (or me) out for under $170. Depends where they are and what they sound like over the phone. If they are assholes, I tell them some huge price so they hang up. I quit towing for the Govt in the keys a while ago. Now ....If we can regen a truck with a laptop and get it on it's way that way, they pay $170. That is common, and we tell them it has to get into the shop soon, this is a temp fix. If we have to crawl under, unhook the driveline etc, it goes up and into mileage. They are all Allison autos now. These meth heads and border jumpers can't be trusted with a slush box anymore. I had one call me out because his Pete overheated and died. Wouldn't re-start. Water pump locked up. This is apparently one of Biden's Honduran buddies. He had 2 cell phones and zero brains. The guy that hired him had to be just as bad. Most of his lug nuts were coming off, his load was ready to slide off. All kinds of crap broken. I just left him there. No way I'm hooking up to that death trap and pulling it down a highway. I lost over an hour and didn't get a cent, but CVE made a fortune on this guy. It's getting crazy out there. It could be 2 bucks a gallon. They need these trucks to roll 7 days a week. When the middle class grinds to a hlt, the other two will be screwed, I don't think they are smart enough to see that. Used to be the big RVs were just rich people. They weren't affected very much. Now, what I am seeing is that people have sold their homes and live in the travel coaches and go from state to state camping and staying in parking lots to sleep. When they break down, they have to spend the big bucks to sit in a hotel and wait for parts, which seem to never come. Everything is a fortune, half the guys out there take them for a ride. On and on and on. People are almost to a breaking point. The middle class is the framework of all mankind, they support the other two classes entirely. They go dirt cheap. People report their bicycle stolen, then go buy another one. The cops run ads for people to come look through a warehouse full of bikes, most would find theirs there but are too lazy. Most of the auctioned bikes are in good shape, some have a missing wheel where they were locked up. You can get 20 bikes for $300 or less most of the time.
