Not sure what the road call was, but you have to have a minimum.  Every job has to cover it's expenses, including putting food on your table.  The guy that bailed me out of trouble in Illinois charged me 400+ to show up, swap my lift axle tire onto a drive position, and rewire my fender lights.  Took 2 hours total.  Was worth every penny.  You have tools you've bought, a work truck to insure/maintain.  You've put a lot of money out to be in business, you shouldn't be making Walmart employee wages.

Rumor has it 2 terminals in the Port of Albany ran out Saturday.  My local station went from 4.99-5.99 M-F and then to 6.49 yesterday.  Say there is a shortage??? I'm sure Dementia Joe wasn't talking about it while he was the Belle of the Ball last night.

It was on conservative radio news where I heard that since opening the emergency reserves we were supplementing Europe to break their Russian dependance.  Meanwhile these brain-dead morons rave how great we're doing on the home front.  Have to be stupid if you believe anything the powers that be say these days.  Its sounding way too true that this is the intentional Socialist push to break the American economy.  We need another Jim Jones to lead these people to their destination.

I don't believe in fuel surcharges. First, you add a fuel surcharge and the customer will, expect you to lower it as soon as the price changes, second, high fuel prices raise the price of EVERYTHING including your cost of living. If you only raise your rate by the increase in fuel you are using you are going backwards. I set my rate at what I need which include the present price of fuel and all of the added cost of living and doing business associated. Just use the same formula you used to set your rate before just using your current costs and cost of living.

I agree.   Fuel surcharges are intended for long term contracted freight.   Otherwise, just quote the job with current fuel pricing in mind.

I had never thought of it that way but that makes complete sense to me.
