Howdy all.  Thought I would reach out to the experts for an ID (year, etc) on this fuel tank.  Was in my late father-in-law's "stuff".  I plan to use it in a new shop/barn I'm building.

Thanks -- Bob.

I have seen that style used on Mack L and LT models.  Age is approx late 40's to early 50's.

Thanks!  Now I just need to make it look good again and refurb the pump / fittings.  Would the '50' in the serial number indicate 1950 (or is that just a coincidence)?

Could very well be.  I recognize the shape of the tank but I never looked to see what the tank number was and then correlate it with the truck.  I will see a friends rig in a couple weeks that has the tanks and I will see what the tags show.

The 50 wouldn't be gallons would it?

Could be, there's a drum behind it but doesn't look big enough to be a 55.

Personally I think it's a 40g tank because it's an R40 model tank according to the label.
