Any Mack, regardless of model or year is better than anything out there. An R is the ultimate truck hands down!

The R is truly a great platform, Mack ran it from the late 60's to early 2000's. Nearly 40 years virtually unchanged, that's unheard of, and truly impressive. They built their name on the R then Volvo took it away.

I'd buy an early granite and throw an endt676 or an EM6 with a maxitorque in it in a heartbeat. It's hard to find double frame R's with good frames anymore.

I would take my 79 R model for a cross country trip in a heartbeat.Top out at 65,has plenty of power. We used them to pull dump trailers and were loaded to 100,000 everyday.

Excellent point.  Visor has been added as standard equipment!

It might be fun to list the changes from the original 65/66 R 600's to the refinements of the late 80 and early 90 R's. The RD's were for the most part a construction truck as the  CH replaced the Highway R'r.

Jim, I have that picture saved on my hard drive since you posted it once before. But nice to see one more time anyway.

One of the best looking trucks!

My only sorry KamAZ didn't happen to produce them :D
