Mack Trunnion Tube

Recommended Posts

Good Evening,

As you can see in my attached photo, my B61 mack has braces welded onto the trunnion tube. It seems to be leaking oil, and I'm not very experienced with truck suspensions.

Would I be better off replacing the trunnion tube and stand, or trying to find a Mack cutoff and just going the total update route? This is a 1962 B61, and I believe it has 54,000 rears.

Thanks!

If your talking about the cap that's welded to the bar it's supposed to be there and there is no oil just Greece.

No the cracks are fairly common

Looks like the oil is coming from much higher up looking at the trunnions

Depending on what you find for a problem and how you plan on using the truck in the future,  swapping to a newer setup would get a better gear ratio, etc.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the input. I'll probably just weld the cracks, and run it!
