Haulin' the Hume

Here is a link to a you tube video of this years "Haulin the Hume" this past weekend. The Hume Highway was the main freight highway from Sydney to Melbourne Australia (about 500 miles) and to the Aussies has a similar historic relevance as our Route 66 has to us Americans. It is now a 4 lane interstate but this event uses as much of the old 2 lane road as possible. The promoters of this event have split the Hume in half and run half way each year alternating starting points. This event / convoy / reenactment has become so popular that they have to limit it to about 250 vehicles.

If you search You tube for Haulin the Hume you can come up with videos of previous years.

Swishy, I am saving my pennies!!! Ron Kirk has already told me he can get me a ride.. The Hume was one of the things left out of our ATHS Down Under tour.. Even if we just took a bus down the old road..
