Rattle in 7th going up a hill

Recommended Posts

Hello

i have a t310m , drained fluid in tranny and both rears, nothing at all obvious in there . But i get a rattling , metallic sound coming from what sounds to be around the shifter area .

i only hear it in 7th sometimes 8th.

any ideas ? Thanks .

If this is on air bags at rear axles then set the ride height to mack specs and not what looks good, what you hear on the radio is not always right.

What ratio are the diffs ? Have u checked the ujoints ? if you are running un even tires  try locking out the power divider! Also check the rear yoke bolt on the trans for tightness!

If it sounds like its coming from the transmission then it may be the reverse gear set in the back box.  In 7th and 8th the reverse gear set is spinning fast and is not loaded so it may sound like a lot of rattling.
