NBC News / December 8, 2015

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has taken the lead role in the search for two Muslim Afghan airmen who have run away from Moody Air Force Base in Georgia where they were training and vanished.

The two men, Mirwais Kohistani and Shirzad Rohullah, were part of a group of 23 from Afghanistan who have been at the base since February.

Officials allege there is no evidence the AWOL Muslim Afghan airmen pose a threat [even though they don’t know why they disappeared].

“They’ve just gone missing. We’re not sure why,” said Air Force spokesman Ed Gulick.

“It’s not the first time it’s happened so we just want to find them if we can,” said Gulick.

"There is a well-coordinated process among federal agencies to locate the individuals as quickly as possible and return them accordingly to the proper authorities to manage their present situation," the Air Force said in a statement. [Only Henry Blake could get away with a line like that]

The DHS has seized hours of surveillance video in connection with the disappearance of the Afghan men from Valdosta Regional Airport (30 miles from the Florida border), where the men rented a car.

The missing Afghan nationals in Georgia are assigned to the 81st Fighter Squadron, which was re-activated in January and charged with training Afghan airmen.

A Maryland man has been charged with attempting to provide material support to ISIS, obstruction of agency proceedings and making false statements and falsifying or concealing material facts. He faces a maximum of 31 years in prison for the charges.

Mohamed Elshinawy, 30, of Edgewood, Maryland, was arrested on Friday.

Elshinawy pledged allegiance to ISIS in February and later told his brother he wanted to die as a martyr. He is a U.S. citizen.

The FBI discovered a person in Egypt who was trying to send money to the U.S. for possibly nefarious purposes. On June 28,.that person transferred $1,000 to Elshinawy.

A month later, Elshinawy told the FBI that his mother had sent him the money to buy an iPhone for a friend. However, he later admitted that a childhood friend had put him in touch with a member of ISIS and that he knew the person who transferred him the money was associated with the ISIS.

Elshinawy told the FBI that he had received a total of $4,000 in two payments, one valued at $1,000 and the other valued at $3,000, with the instructions to use the funds for “operational purposes,” which prosecutors say Elshinawy interpreted as to cause destruction through an attack in the U.S.

Elshinawy was also told that if he ever came under surveillance, he should stop whatever he is doing in connection to planning an attack.

During a second interview with the FBI, Elshinawy said he never received any more money from ISIS other than the $4,000 he disclosed. He later, however, admitted that he received another $1,200 from an ISIS operative through PayPal.

An investigation found that between March and June 2015, Elshinawy received at least $8,700 in payments from people he knew to be associated with ISIS.

Elshinawy sold printers on eBay as a means to cover the payments from ISIS. Elshinawy also used multiple email accounts and "pay as you go" phones to communicate with ISIS.

Reuters / December 11, 2015

A Minnesota man was arrested on Friday on charges that he threatened FBI agents and a judge this week after a friend was taken into custody for conspiring to join ISIS.

Khaalid Abdulkadir was accused of impeding and retaliating against a federal judge and federal law enforcement officers on Wednesday, sending two tweets within hours of the arrest of Abdirizak Mohamed Warsame, 20.

(see above “Feds Arrest 'Emir' of ISIS Recruitment Effort in Minnesota”).

Abdulkadir sent two tweets after Warsame's arrest stating “kill them FBI” and “I'm kill them FEDS for take my brothers” and the judge.

Both tweets were removed by Thursday morning, but screenshots were saved, prosecutors said.

"While there are many legitimate means in the United States to voice dissent and difference of opinion with our government, threatening violent retaliation against federal agents is both illegal and outrageous," U.S. Attorney Andrew Luger said.

An affidavit showed that Abdulkadir had been on the radar of the FBI for some time and was exchanging messages with another former Minnesota native, Mohamed Abdullahi Hassan.

Hassan left America in 2008 to join extremist group al-Shabaab fighting government forces in Somalia. While abroad, Hassan turned recruiter, trying to get others from the U.S. to join jihadist groups, and regularly tweeted messages praising the killing of Jews and terror attacks such as those on the Charlie Hebdo offices in Paris.

The affidavit claims Abdulkadir and Hassan swapped messages back in January in which the Minnesota native expressed an interest in traveling to Syria.

Abdulkadir wrote: 'Brother I’m trying to make moves and I have no connection so what’s the deal brother? I’m trying to bounce for untied state Mpls mn to [iSIS].'

Hassan told Abdulkadir to find his way to Turkey, and he would then help Abdulkadir make it to ISIS-controlled territory.

Abdulkadir had also been in contact with Abdi Nur, another man from Minneapolis native who is now believed to be in Raqqa, the Syrian city that has become the default capital for ISIS.

The affidavit also alleges Abdulkadir was part of a group of young men who videotaped a deputy U.S. marshal through a window on the ground floor of the federal courthouse in Minneapolis. The marshal was filmed after a court appearance by one man from a group of six who were accused of conspiring to provide support to ISIS.

Abdulkadir's case has parallels with that of another Minnesota man, Mahamed Abukar Said, who was charged with two felonies for tweeting 'ima whack that us attorney general' after the arrests of the six men in April.

Said pleaded guilty to a reduced misdemeanor charge last month and faces a maximum of a year in jail plus supervised release and probation when he's sentenced later this month.

Warsame was the tenth Minnesota man charged in an investigation into recruiting and support for ISIS militants among the Twin Cities Somali Muslim community.

So far, three men have pleaded guilty, five are scheduled to go to trial in May and one is believed to be with Islamic State militants in Syria.

A U.S. magistrate judge ordered Abdulkadir held temporarily in a brief appearance on Friday in U.S. District Court in Minneapolis. A detention hearing was scheduled for Wednesday.

Roughly 22 young men have left Minnesota since 2007 to join al-Shabab in Somalia, while about a dozen Minnesota residents have traveled to Syria to join jihadist groups there since late 2013.

Associated Press / October 21, 2015

Five Minnesota men accused of accused of trying to fly overseas to fight with ISIS are now charged with a new count of conspiracy to commit murder outside the United States.

Prosecutors say the men are part of a group of friends in Minnesota’s Somali community who recruited and inspired each other to join ISIS.

Three members of the group have pleaded guilty, but the rest — Hamza Naj Ahmed, 20; Mohamed Abdihamid Farah, 21; Adnan Abdihamid Farah, 19; Abdurahman Yasin Daud, 21; and Guled Ali Omar, 21 — are scheduled to stand trial in February.

Some of the men began talking about fighting with the Islamic State group as early as March 2014.

As part of their planning, some of the men communicated with ISIS members overseas, some supplied an informant with materials for fake passports and some played paintball to prepare for combat.

The 14-count indictment charges all five men with conspiracy to commit murder outside the U.S. and conspiracy to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization.

It also charges all but Adnan Farah with attempting to provide such support.

Some of the new charges include perjury counts against Adnan Farah, Mohamed Farah and Daud for allegedly lying to the federal grand jury.

Some members of the group provided others with telephone numbers they could use in Turkey to contact members of ISIS.

Daud and Adnan Farah used social media to communicate with a self-described ISIS member in Syria who gave them information about the best way to travel to join the fighting.

On April 19, Daud and Mohamed Farah received fake passports from an undercover FBI employee in San Diego, California. They were both arrested that day in San Diego, while most of the other members of the group were arrested in Minnesota.

Furor over Arabic assignment leads Virginia school district to close Friday

The Washington Post / December 17, 2015

A Virginia school system has decided to close schools Friday after a high school geography assignment on world religions led to allegations of Islamic indoctrination and a slew of angry emails and phone calls.

Augusta County School District officials said that there had been no specific threat of harm to students. But in a statement posted on the school district’s website, officials said they were concerned about the “tone and content of these communications.”

“We regret having to take this action, but we are doing so based on the recommendations of law enforcement and the Augusta County School Board out of an abundance of caution,” the statement says.

Superintendent Eric Bond refused to respond to questions about why he canceled school given the lack of a specific threat, or about whether he considered the original assignment improper. Members of the school board also refused to comment.

The school district serves about 10,000 students in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley west of Charlottesville, Va., about 150 miles from Washington, D.C.

A geography teacher at the district’s Riverheads High in Staunton, Va., gave an assignment asking students to try their hand at [alleged] calligraphy by copying a statement in Arabic, according to the Staunton News Leader.

The “calligraphy” was the Muslim statement of faith, according to the newspaper: “There is no god but Allah. Muhammad is the messenger of Allah.”

The assignment was [allegedly] meant to give students a sense for the art of calligraphy, and the teacher did not have the students translate the statement into English, require students to recite the statement, or say they believed in it.

But some parents were outraged at what they saw as an attempt to promote Islam in a public school.

One parent accused the school of religious indoctrination, drawing the attention of national media, triggering a community meeting and an avalanche of messages to the school system.

“These children were deceived when they were told it was calligraphy,” the parent, Kimberly Herndon, told NBC29 television. “This is not calligraphy, this is a language.”

Students were also invited to try on a hijab, or head scarf.

In the statement posted on the school district website, officials said that “no lesson was designed to promote a religious viewpoint or change any student’s religious belief.”

Students will continue learning about world religions as required by state academic standards, school officials said. But in the future, students will practice calligraphy using a different sample that has nothing to do with Islam.

Why would a "Public" school have the students write Arabic and practice calligraphy if they did not know what it said? Not long ago the 10 Commandments had to be removed from schools why would this be any different?

It is hard not to believe that this was not part of another agenda.

I can see a "poor" choice of subject matter, but I would be more upset as to why many of the students at a majority of public schools are only taught what is needed to pass the Common Core Tests. They than graduate with Reading Skills at the 5th to 7th grade levels, Spelling Skills at the 3rd grade level. Math Skills at the 4th of 5th grade levels and many with no Science Skills at all. Admitted to universities and spend one or two years of college taking remedial courses to learn what they didn't learn or were not taught in the Pubic School Systems. Parents should be more concerned about that IMO. Paul

What do you expect when Americas supposed best and brightest at Yale agree to repeal the 1st Amendment. Obama's Dept of Ed and the Progressives agenda is transforming the public schools and colleges and indoctrinating the youth of America into in something else, a Marxist Islamist Brotherhood that is protesting racial and religious disparity. According to the Washington Post pew Research polls, American college students are likely to endorse some censorship at rates greater than countries that have no 1st Amendment or its equivalent. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2015/11/21/why-protesters-on-college-campuses-are-battling-free-speech-in-1-graph/

Saw that a bit ago. Not surprised at all.

But in their defense, how many even know what any of the amendments are? Maybe only what they mention on the lame stream media and at the Universities?

Remember we have "educated" people who haven't the faintest idea of who we fought in the Revolutionary War or the Civil War. Think Abraham Lincoln was a "vampire hunter" and the best of America (includes our President and Vice President) not knowing the number of states in the Union.

CNN / December 26, 2015

An Arizona ISIS supporter has been indicted on charges of arming and training the men who tried to attack a Prophet Mohammed cartoon contest in Texas earlier this year. He sought to use pipe bombs to target last season's Super Bowl.

A new indictment against Abdul Malik Abdul Kareem (aka Decarus Thomas) also accuses him of providing material support to the global terror network by accessing -- with the help of a cohort -- an ISIS document listing the names and addresses of U.S. service members.

Kareem had earlier been indicted of providing arms and guidance to the two men, Elton Simpson and Nadir Soofi, who were killed on May 3 attempting to attack the cartoon contest.

The indictment handed down on Wednesday provided more detail on Kareem's alleged willingness to pursue violent jihad in the name of ISIS and his influence on his co-conspirators.

Simpson and Soofi were shot dead by a police traffic officer who was part of the security at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland, Texas, a Dallas suburb, the day of the Muhammad Art Exhibit and Contest. That officer was wounded but survived the assault, for which ISIS claimed responsibility.

The trio began conspiring to support ISIS sometime around June 2014. Their target list included military bases, U.S. service members, shopping malls, Super Bowl XLIX in Glendale, Arizona, and the cartoon contest.

The men traveled to remote desert areas near Phoenix for target practice during the first half of 2015. The indictment also accuses Kareem of transporting firearms and ammunition across state lines.

Kareem faked having been struck by a car and attempted to make an insurance claim based in his injuries in order to raise money for attacks.

In addition to providing arms to Simpson and Soofi, Kareem hosted the two men and others at his home to discuss the attack on the cartoon contest.

For months, the trio and other men watched videos "depicting jihadist violence and apparent wartime footage in Syria, Iraq and elsewhere in the Middle East" as well "torture and executions" by ISIS members.

"While watching the videos, Kareem exhorted and encouraged Simpson and Soofi to engage in violent activity in the United States to support ISIS and impose retribution for United States military actions in the Middle East," the indictment said.

From December to May 2014, Kareem and others allegedly attempted to acquire pipe bombs and inquired about what type of explosives would be needed to create maximum damage at venues such as the mall at Westgate and nearby University of Phoenix Stadium, where the Super Bowl was to be played on February 1, the indictment said.

On March 20, Simpson accessed an ISIS list of the home addresses of U.S. military personnel. A handwritten note found later in an apartment shared by Simpson and Sofi had the name and address of an Arizona service member targeted by ISIS. Simpson, Soofi and others also scouted military installations for planned attacks.

Kareem, who was arrested last June, was charged on Wednesday with conspiracy to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization, interstate transportation of firearms with intent to commit a felony, making false statements and other crimes. An indictment earlier this year charged him with conspiracy and weapons charges in connection with the attack in Garland.

A Palestinian born in Iraq who entered the United States as a refugee was an ISIS sympathizer planning to set off bombs at two Houston malls, a federal investigator told a U.S. court on Wednesday.

Federal investigators began looking into Omar Faraj Saeed Al-Hardan in 2014 and found that he was buying components on eBay to detonate homemade bombs, according to Herman Wittliff, a Department of Homeland Security special agent.

Al-Hardan, 24, pleaded not guilty at the court in Houston to charges he supplied support to Islamic State and lied to U.S. officials.

He was charged with offering his services and material support to ISIS.

Al-Hardan also faces two charges about giving false information to U.S. officials over his ties to ISIS and being provided weapons training.

The most serious charge carries up to 25 years in prison.

Al-Hardan was granted legal permanent residency [green card] status in the United States in August 2011. He is not yet a U.S. citizen.

In a second related case last week in Sacramento, the U.S. Department of Justice said Aws Mohammed Younis Al-Jayab, 23, who came to the United States in 2012 as a refugee from Syria, was arrested on a federal charge of making a false statement involving international terrorism.

Over 75 U.S. residents radicalized by Muslim militants have been arrested since 2014.

The Wall Street Journal / January 13, 2016

FBI Director James Comey says his department is investigating the shooting of a Philadelphia police officer last week as a suspected act of terrorism.

Philadelphia police arrested 30-year-old Edward Archer for shooting police officer Jesse Hartnett three times in a late-night ambush as the officer was in his patrol car.

Mr. Hartnett, who was shot in the arm, is being treated at a hospital.

'This is absolutely one of the scariest things I've ever seen,' said Police Commissioner Richard Ross. 'This guy tried to execute the police officer. The police officer had no idea he was coming.'

Ross said Hartnett was in his patrol car in West Philadelphia when the shooter approached from the sidewalk. He then began firing, eventually shooting through the driver's-side window as he got closer.

Archer told detectives he was inspired by ISIS.

Investigators are closely scrutinizing Mr. Archer’s background, including his trip to Saudi Arabia in late 2011 and another to Egypt in 2012.

Police arrested Archer shortly after the shooting and recovered a 9mm pistol they believe was used in the incident. The gun was reported stolen in 2013 from the home of a police officer, but it is unclear how Archer obtained the weapon.

Archer has been charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and gun crimes.

Archer has a criminal history. In November, he was convicted of forgery, driving without a valid license and four other charges in Delaware County outside Philadelphia.

1/3 of Americans don't know what's happening in the world (they intentionally avoid the news.....tidbits of truth, but still something to go on).

1/3 of Americans have heard of ISIS and saw news of the Paris attacks, but consider it a "far away" and "over there" event, not one they need to be concerned about.......it's not going to get in the way of their busy personal life.

1/3 of Americans are concerned. The gun advocates are more convinced of their conviction......but given the way terrorist prey, indiscriminately attacking civilian targets, they'll never see it coming.

Fighting these people requires a complete mental reboot, and the temporary discarding of the ethics, morals and values that define us, as only when we fight them at their ruthless level can we defeat them.

There's little doubt that ISIS took down that Russian airliner last week, flying at 31,000 feet, murdering 224 civilians. And we know how porous our borders are.........or at least the 12 million-plus illegal aliens in the U.S. do.

These people have declared war on western civilization. I fear, while Washington is trying to be politically correct and walk a safe line, things are going to get worse before it gets better. The authorities are no doubt working around-the-clock to keep America safe. But without a reboot of our mindset, I fear our current posture is inadequate.

An EgyptAir mechanic whose cousin joined ISIS in Syria is suspected of planting a bomb on the Russian passenger plane that was blown out of Egypt's skies in late October after takeoff from Sharm el-Sheikh airport.

All 224 people on board were killed.

The mechanic had been detained, along with two airport policemen and a baggage handler suspected of helping him put the bomb on board.

After learning that one of its members had a relative that worked at the airport, ISIS delivered a bomb in a handbag to that person.

The suspect's cousin joined ISIS in Syria a year and a half ago. He was told to not ask any questions and get the bomb on the plane.

Two policemen are suspected of playing a role by turning a blind eye to the operation at a security checkpoint. But there is a possibility that they were just not doing their jobs properly.

Muslim “refugees” attack Germans on Munich subway

RT / February 2, 2016

Two elderly metro passengers in Munich were attacked by a group of young men of Middle Eastern appearance last weekend as they tried to protect a woman from being sexually harassed. The alleged asylum seekers attacked the old men intervened.

The assault, which took place on a subway train traveling from Sendlinger Tor station to the Munich city center terminal, was recorded on a mobile phone by Munich resident Tom Roth.

The video shows several young men of Middle Eastern appearance attacking two elderly Germans, who moments earlier had come to the defense of a young woman harassed by the group.

After seizing the Germans by the hands and insulting them verbally, a young attacker kicks one of the old men, then holds him by the neck from behind and threatens him. The other attackers make sure none of the passengers can interfere by creating a safe zone.

The second German man is seen grappling with one of the migrants.

Tom Roth said the incident broke out after a young woman rejected one of the migrant's advances, who had addressed her in English and placed his hand on her back.

After being brushed off, the harasser struck a window with full force to express his dissatisfaction, said Roth. This is when the old men asked the migrants to behave.

The man wearing a brown jacket acted aggressively, patting the head of one old man, who immediately stood up.

Other passengers tried to call the disrespectful asylum seekers to order.

Once the train arrived at the station, Tom Roth called the police, but law enforcement officers said there was nothing they could do.

The incident in Munich is a minor one in a series of conflicts between Germans and migrants who are arriving in Europe en masse. The country’s Interior Ministry said 1.1 million refugees came to Germany in 2015. Berlin expects 1.5 million asylum seekers to arrive in 2016.

The worst assault to date on locals in Germany took place in Cologne on New Year’s Eve, where mass sexual harassment was reported. Similar attacks also took place in other German cities.

State Interior Minister Ralf Jager said more than 1,200 people fell victim to attacks on New Year’s Eve in German cities, with more than a half of them suffering sexual assaults.

French festivals ditch Eagles of Death Metal over singer's comments

The Guardian  /  May 20, 2016

[American band member] Jesse Hughes alleged he saw Muslims celebrating during Paris attacks and that Bataclan staff were involved in assault

Two French festivals on Friday cancelled shows by Eagles of Death Metal, the band whose 13 November show in Paris turned into a bloodbath, after the frontman made remarks critical of Muslims.

The Rock en Seine and Cabaret Vert festivals took issue with an interview by singer and guitarist Jesse Hughes, who renewed allegations that Muslim staff at the Bataclan club had been involved in the attack.

“As we are in total disagreement with Jesse Hughes’s recent allegations given in an interview with an American media [outlet], both Cabaret Vert and Rock en Seine festivals have decided to cancel the band’s performance,” said a statement by the two festivals, which take place in late August.

Eagles of Death Metal had briefly become heroes in France after jihadi extremists attacked their concert, killing 90 people in the deadliest of a series of coordinated assaults that claimed 130 lives across Paris.

But Hughes has since proved controversial in his remarks. He is known for his rightwing politics and champions gun ownership as well as Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.

In an interview published last week, Hughes called for greater scrutiny of Muslims in the west and alleged that conservative Christians were unfairly being blamed for global problems.

“I saw Muslims celebrating in the street during the attack. I saw it with my own eyes. In real time! How did they know what was going on? There must have been coordination,” he told Taki’s Magazine, a publication from Greek-born conservative commentator Taki Theodoracopulos, which has faced criticism for its writings on race.

Trump has voiced similar allegations of US Muslims celebrating the 9/11 attacks, a claim for which there is no documented evidence [if it’s not “documented”, then it automatically can’t be true].

Hughes alleged that a Bataclan security guard had inquired about the background of his girlfriend, who is of Mexican origin, supposedly with an eye to warning her of the impending attack if she was Muslim.

Hughes in March also gave an interview in which he alleged an inside job. The Bataclan strongly disputed his assertions, saying the club’s security is likely to have saved hundreds of lives.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alleged Muslims attackers murdered 130 people in Paris on that day. The concert’s band’s head exercises his freedom of speech, and reports what he saw. France slams him for being critical of….Muslims, goes into full tilt damage control. Go figure. It would be nice to know the truth.......for once.

Bataclan owners condemn Eagles of Death Metal frontman's suggestion their guards were complicit in massacre

The Guardian  /  March 11, 2016

[American] Jesse Hughes said six of the security team did not turn up at Paris venue on 13 November, and it ‘seems rather obvious that they had a reason’

The owners of the Bataclan in Paris have reacted angrily to the suggestion by Eagles of Death Metal frontman Jesse Hughes that its security guards were complicit in the massacre [go figure] that left 89 concertgoers dead on 13 November 2015, calling his remarks “insane”.

“Jesse Hughes spread some very grave and defamatory accusations against the Bataclan teams,” the Bataclan’s owners said in a statement. “A judicial investigation is undergoing. We wish to let justice proceed serenely. All the testimonies gathered to this day demonstrate the professionalism and courage of the security agents who were on the ground on 13 November. Hundreds of people were saved thanks to [their] intervention.”

In a video interview with Fox Business Network, Hughes had been asked if anything had seemed unusual when he arrived at the venue that evening.

“When I first got to the venue and walked in, I walked past the dude who was supposed to be the security guard for the backstage,” he said. “He didn’t even look at me. I immediately went to the promoter and said, ‘Who’s that guy? I want to put another dude on.’ He says, ‘Well, some of the other guards aren’t here yet.’ And eventually I found out that six or so wouldn’t show up at all.”

He added: “Out of respect for the police still investigating, I won’t make a definite statement, but it seems rather obvious that they had a reason not to show up.”

Hughes also said he had noticed people at the venue who didn’t look like regular Eagles of Death Metal fans. “Right before we walked onstage, there were two dudes in shorts and trench coats, [who] were standing, without talking, heads down in the corner, by where the entrance out into the venue is from backstage,” he said. “We have a joke that if you’re not smiling at one of our shows, you surely can’t be there to see the Eagles of Death Metal, because you don’t know what you’re in for. Shawn [London, the group’s sound engineer] looked at me and said, ‘They certainly don’t look like they’re here for one of our shows.’”

This is not the first time Hughes has commented on the events of 13 November in surprising fashion. During an interview with the French TV station iTélé in February, he said the killings had not made him reconsider his attitudes to gun ownership.

“Did your French gun control stop a single [expletive] person from dying at the Bataclan?” he said. “And if anyone can answer yes, I’d like to hear it, because I don’t think so. I think the only thing that stopped it was some of the bravest men I’ve ever seen in my life charging head-first into the face of death with their firearms.

“I know people will disagree with me, but it just seems like God made men and women, and that night guns made them equal,” he said. “And I hate it that it’s that way. I think the only way that my mind has been changed is that maybe until nobody has guns everybody has to have them.

“Because I’ve never seen anyone that’s had one dead, and I want everyone to have access to them, and I saw people die that maybe could have lived, I don’t know.”

The Californian hard-rock band were on stage at the Bataclan when three terrorists entered the venue and began shooting with assault rifles and throwing hand grenades. It was one of a series of attacks in Paris that night that left 130 people dead. Islamic State claimed responsibility for the murders.

But Hughes has since proved controversial in his remarks. He is known for his rightwing politics and champions gun ownership as well as Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.Eagles of Death Metal had briefly become heroes in France after jihadi extremists attacked their concert, killing 90 people in the deadliest of a series of coordinated assaults that claimed 130 lives across Paris.

In an interview published last week, Hughes called for greater scrutiny of Muslims in the west and alleged that conservative Christians were unfairly being blamed for global problems “I saw Muslims celebrating in the street during the attack. I saw it with my own eyes. In real time! How did they know what was going on? There must have been coordination,” he told Taki’s Magazine, a publication from Greek-born conservative commentator Taki Theodoracopulos, which has faced criticism for its writings on race.

Trump has voiced similar allegations of US Muslims celebrating the 9/11 attacks, a claim for which there is no documented evidence.

Hughes alleged that a Bataclan security guard had inquired about the background of his girlfriend, who is of Mexican origin, supposedly with an eye to warning her of the impending attack if she was Muslim.

Hughes in March also gave an interview in which he alleged an inside job

“You look at what happened in the Turkish airport, these were suicide vests. It's not that difficult to actually construct and fabricate a suicide vest.”

“So if you have a determined enemy and individuals who are not concerned about escape, that they are going into it with a sense that they are going to die, that really does complicate your strategy in terms of preventing attacks.”

“I am worried from the standpoint of an intelligence professional who looks at the capabilities of Daesh [the Arabic acronym for ISIS] … and their determination to kill as many as people as possible and to carry out attacks abroad.”

“I'd be surprised if Daesh is not trying to carry out that kind of attack in the United States.”

“If anybody here believes the U.S. homeland is hermetically sealed and that (ISIS) would not consider that, I would guard against it.”

“We've yet to really thwart Daesh's ability to reach beyond the Syria-Iraqi borders and put in place some of the plans and preparations to carry out attacks. I am very concerned we have not had the success against Daesh in that environment as we've had in the core areas of Syria and Iraq.”

“Turkey has been cracking down on some of the transit of foreign fighters who are flowing into, as well as out of, Turkey, and they are part of the coalition providing support, allowing their territory to be used by coalition aircraft, so there are a lot of reasons why Daesh would want to strike back. It was a suicide bombing [which] is usually more a Daesh technique.”
