45 E model pumper, engine 2 Andover MA

This is on craigslist in Mass. It is the old engine 2 from Andover MA. The price is a pipe dream but it is pretty cool to see. It does look like its been outside since 45...

I remember that engine running out of the Ballardvale station in Andover; looked a lot better back then. The old Ballardvale station is still in service although AFD has

been trying to replace it for the last several years.

Didn't they build a new station up at South Elementary school on the corner in the little league field.

Andover wanted to build a new station next to the South School but there was some community opposition to that plan so as of now the 126 year old Ballardvale station is

still at the corner of Clark Road and Andover Street. A citizen has submitted a warrant for the 2016 town meeting to spend 3 million dollars to renovate the current station

but the department feels that this station is too outdated and would like to build a new one. I'm not sure if the school site is still in the running.

Well Andover has plenty of desire to keep taxes well spent and most of them have plenty of $ to afford it too.  I'd think that $3,000,000 would go a long ways toward making anything modern enough to be well suited to today's needs.  I wonder if the E model above sold or not and to whom.  Love those.
