How much boost?

Recommended Posts

My 1993 400 only makes 15 lbs of boost. That seems low to me. I have other (newer) trucks that make 35. I checked for leaks in the cooler, had none. Does anybody know what the boost should be? The truck does seem a little down on power.

My Electronic 95 350 makes 20 lbs boost. My 97 427's make 28-33 lbs of boost.

I thought 20 was low too but it is the specs of Mack and it pulls great. Service manager gave me the specs as we thought we had issues as well.

Gauges arent all they are cracked up to be either, I'd check gauge and see what specs are before trying anything else.

A 93 400 VMAC should be around 24-32 psi of boost according to the 1993 Mack tune up book. Maybe blown intake gaskets. They now have steel core intake gaskets

Might be a stupid question but to each his own.

What psi boost E6-350 should have when bobtailing?

Sure no load but with a full throttle at a midlle rev range it never takes more that 8 psi.

Generally in a flat road I see from 0 to 3.

I was wrong.

My E6-350 makes up to 8-10 on a flat bobtailing.

Recently I put a full throttle uphill on the top gear doing 50 MPH and saw 20 pci of boost.
