yup, had Shephard power steering just like that one and yes i removed it. don't really need it in a single axle truck and it kinda danced all over the road like an old Ford Pickup with a work out twin I beam front end. i had the box rebuilt and it still wandered. probably could have tightened it up on the box with the set screw but i took it out. have the whole setup on a shelf, Not For Sale.. haha

Ill see if i can get a pic of them together soon maybe tomorrow i might have run accross a nice 20' flatbed to put on my dm for now. I did give the b a bath on sat and tried to get all the tree sap off of her looks better but still need a good scrubbing. My dad was looking at the old cast pieces of the dump setuppost-12689-0-89479600-1380563809_thumb.jpost-12689-0-45623300-1380563832_thumb.j

yup. hang onto it all. that's a late 60'sm early 70's R or U model rear end because it still has the old style cast brake pod mounts, not the Timkin Style. also has R or U model spring hangers and the thicker springs . ditch the tires and keep it somewhere. youll be sorry if you scrap it. I had a truck that kept losing wheel seals, seems some ace mechanic over the years took a torch and notch the top and bottom of the housing to get the ring gear of the hogs head to clear easier. well it notched the bolt flange enough that the housing flexed and kept takin out the bearing and wheel seals.

Ok thought id give yall a update on the B. yesterday started working on a few things, found out my air leak is one of my orig cast alu brake canisters.....crap.... So now I get to replace them both just sucks cause i like the old school look of them, oh well. Took my air cleaner apart to check the trays and to check and change my oil (my last oilbath cleaner i had on a truck had 8 drowned mice in it and after a 3.5 hr drive the ole cummins had sucked the fur off most of them). The tray was good and clean but the resivior was full of water!!

Got it all cleaner out and luckily no rust

Next I decided to start on some body work. I took off the funder panels and sanded them down to bare metal. One side was fine the other was pitted a lil to much for my taste but luckily one of my spares was in good shape so they got primed and painted gloss black

Dont. Know if anyone has used these before their paint removing disks for a 4.5" angle grinder. We have them at work and they are the cats meow to remove paint, quick and dont scratch the metal either. I had the fender panels stripped of 5 layers of paint in about 4-5 mins

Today i got my fenders stripped down of paint and almost a gallon of bondo. Thankfully this was the worst rust on them

post-12689-0-40702500-1381632715_thumb.j

And most of the bondo was just to even them out where the fit wasnt perfect. But i fixed the few bad places and got them primed and painted today as well. Anybody have any input on cab color? Im between going back red, green, or grey which i think would be different

Well ive got the fenders back together well except for the access panels and ive hauled 4 loads with her so far and it is a blast! Truck performs great and gets lots of looks too ill have to get a pic of me loaded next time. Now i just have to get new tires. I know 24.5's are a direct replacement for 10x22's but i was also told that all dayton rims have the same inner diameter. If thats the case i could run 22.5's which i have.

Ok thats what i thought. I found a guy on cl that has some 10.00x22 recaps and im going to go look at them and hopefully there in as good a shape as he says. That way i dont have to buy 6 new 24.5 rims right now, only 2. But i believe id be better off to just convert them all at once

Nice looking B. I hope you use a safety latch when the bed is raised.

Prob something i shouldn't have its just plain gloss black industrial enamel from glidden. I don't know if i can clear it or not to keep it from getting chalky haven't looked into it yet. But looks better than rust and it protects the metal. Doesn't look to bad to be painted outside with a piece of cardboard for masking. As long as she looks presentable is what I'm after cause i am working the truck and i think there is no sense in sinking a lot of money into a really nice paint job when i can use it elsewhere on the truck
