thomastractorsvc Posted September 25, 2013 Share Posted September 25, 2013 Ok well i got the truck outta the ladies yard this eve finally. Hoped it would just pull its self out but no such luck. Heavy mack+ soft yard+ highway tires on one side= no go. So after yanking hard with my one ton ford (only 2x4) the lady offered to try her 1/2 ton 4x4 chevy which luckly pulled it out. By this time it was getting dark and the light circut has a bad short and the headlight wires are cut so i had no lights so i drove her a few miles to a buddys house till thursday. First time with the two sticks (that you have to use both) and i didnt do to bad. Will post some more pics and video links on thursday. Also my spring brake valve is hooked up right its just made backwards. Also took inventory of some of my spare parts and i have a extra set of hoods with b67 emblems and a set with b42 emblems. Well i did have to stop and take my shutter linkage apart cause they wouldnt open. Drives nice and straight not much play in the steering at all, front end is tight, cab doesnt rattle. I was told it would top out at 48 mph.... Well somebody fibbed, in 5th&4th i was doing 65 @1800 rpm which is plenty fast enough for me. The cab is in great shape still has the headliner and the lil map/dome lights and they both still work!! I took some pics sorry their dark but it was well dark out. Ill take some more tomorrow. Btw yall were right about the vin # i have a mutt the title and door tag match but the frame # is different also the cab has a duplex shift pattern tag so im guessing the cab was changed some years ago. 3 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Maddog13407 Posted September 27, 2013 Share Posted September 27, 2013 nice truck. im liking the big cab protector. yup you definitely have a little bit of a mutt but most b models are. the frame might be a 57 cause it has the old style front hubcaps but the cab is newer cause the windshield wiper motor is under the hood, the air horns are off to the side and the door tag would read New York,Ny on a 57 not Plainfield Nj. nice truck either way. I have had half of my raiator covered with cardboard in the summer and my temps never get above about 135, not enough for the shutters to open! And i do have a question for those of you who have worked a B with a quadbox. I plan on working this truck as a occasional run local truck hauling between 1 to 10 tons. Me being new to two sticks whats the best shifting pattern as far as splitting gears and so fourth. I can prob figure it out but id rather have a idea before i start up hill with 10 ton, pick the wrong gear combo, and be down to first and first Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

It takes practice but you will eventually learn which gears you can skip,depending on how much weight you have on.When upshifting,shift main first,then aux.( for example when in first hi,shift main to 2nd,then aux. back to lo) and opposite on downshifting. So heres what we got:A complete rear end housing with one axle missing. Not sure what id use it forTwo dry rotted 10.00x22 caps on sears caseings (might make planters outta these for the boss)A very rusty yoke and air cleaner iol panTwo fender panels drivers side perfect pass. side saveable2 running boards (b42?)B67 aluminum hoodsB42 steel hoods little rust but still a good set with all the emblems2 B42 doors drivers side good pass side a lil rough And a power steering box.
