Under the Autocar part of the site there's a Mack trailer A-Car, I'm not sure of the # but I think it was a 1466 Koehring with 2- V12-71 Detroit's?? I know it was one big monster machine (EE Cruz) and the driver of that Autocar brought that machine into the job site like it was 580 Case! He was a tall guy with coveralls on and was one hell of a driver! The Autocar had a series 60 Detroit with an Allison Auto and a aux. trans

Theres a company in Nashville TN, Hunter Marine that has 2 5110 Cat's they have long sticks and clam shell buckets for unloading barges on the river, supposedly when they got the first one back in about 2002 or 2003 it had the largest roatating clam shell bucket ever built. We hauled sand out of there all day and that thing would unload 2 to 3 river barges in no time even with probably 40-50 trucks hauling for 12-14 hours it would build the pile up as we were trying to haul it out. I remember them bringing that first one in one truck load at a time and Cat had two mechanics there for a week putting it together, they were using old Bucyrus Erie draglines up until they got them, they actually still had one a couple years ago just sitting there for when they got too busy for the two 5110's.

Was hauling some 40,000 pound concrete box culverts up to Wisconsin the last couple weeks and

took this pic of this 385B CAT unloading my friends truck. I was next in line. Boxes were even a little

too heavy for this machine and it needed an assist from the loader otherwise he would have to drag

it off the deck.

Was it to heavy or just ran out of lift cylinder. There is no way the stick would extend out to lift. But picking it up side track doesn't help either

Has anybody on here had much experience with an old 215 Cat trackhoe? I think I've got one bought. Runs good, good bottom, tight pins, no bad leaks, but it's jerky as all get out. I hear they were like that when they were new, though. The best thing I like about it is NO COMPUTER!!!!!!

Been so long since I ran one I don't remember. I know they don't or didn't have alot of ass that I can remember. for the size it isn't a bad machine. Think the operator makes it jerky

It had more lift. When the loader came over it would pick it up another foot and a half off the trailer. The forklift at the

yard had the same problem. It could only lift it so high and then another fork had to come over to assist to get it high

enough to set on the trailer. Once the boxes were up the machines seemed to hold them fine, just needed a little help.

That's an affirmative on the stick steer. If you want to help it you have to push down on one pedal with the heel of your boot and kick the steer lever over with your toe while you pick up and swing. It's kind of second nature to me on a modern setup, but this is gonna take a little getting used to.

I almost swung a 54" bucket into the side of A 16' bed on my pops 79' DK Autocar . I was bout 15 or 16 yrs old @ the time . I told pop & his buddy I wanted Our 215 Cat in that dirt pit bad lol.

Took this at the Waupun Truck n Show in Waupun Wi a couple years ago. This guy was hauling a 450 Deere for

Michels. Had it loaded facing forward. Usually the other way around, but I'm sure there was a reason for it. Possibly

needed the counter weight to the rear to axle out, or just needed the stick to sit down farther, don't know.

Reason it is on that way is weight transefer. More axles on back and need all the weight back there to axle out right on the drives. But what a pansy move them around like that on 7 in Fl all day long

Probably depends on what State he was going to. I have a few friends that do heavy haul in the lower 48 and every state they

go in has a different set of rules for oversize. One state says its fine the next one wants you to have 20 axles and two escorts.

Some of these states are just ridiculous with their rules.
