Chicago R models

Recommended Posts

Question for the Chicago guys how much are you allowed to carry in those dump trailers? The bodies seem small compared to the dump trailers here on LI and NYC. The tri-axle T-800 I drive is good for 80,000 with the permits . Most paving companies want you to carry at least 24 tons on a tri axle and 38-40 tons on a flowboy . Just wondering how things are done out there

Spent most of last week hauling stone into to new part of the Waste Management Dekalb Co landfill. Saw two

Western Sand & Gravel RD's and one Granite. Saw a WM RD with a walking floor, an RD rolloff, and a Granite

rolloff along with an MR concrete pumper. They almost have the new cell liner in also.

Triaxle straight jobs? Better off with trailer dumps.

Why is that ? You can get 80,000 legal on the tri axle and there are spots that don't want trailers and other spots you can't get trailers into . Different applications for different situations. My boss has been successful in this industry in NYC for 50 years running 30 or more trucks half trailer half triaxle . Having trailers, triaxles and flowboys will also cover you in all hire applications.

Word on the street is that Super Aggregate has an RB that they just put together that is pretty sharp. Someone needs to get a pic.

Just caught a quick glimpse of it today. Dark blue like their newer Mack's with a big stainless drop visor, pulling a

smooth side Mac or possibly Trailstar.

Those western trucks were hauling from ozinga-Hampshire last week.

They have been using a few different guys. Western has a place down in Ottawa and another out on 52 just east of 39.

I have also seen Princeton Redi-mix up here a few times. They have to be almost 2 hours from home. Not sure if they

are getting put up in hotels or making the commute every day. Gotta wonder if Ozinga is just that busy or if they don't

have enough drivers.
